Gateshead etc are all Franchise FC's too? Yes - not all were 'modern day' but it was a move none the less and done at a time when a lot more real estate would have been available.
What would you have done?
AFC Wimbledon play at Plough lane , sure they moved but came back to their historic home.

It isn't their historical home.
Whether it's AFC or the original Wimbledon/MK Dons, neither of them ever played at Wimbledon Stadium where AFC's ground is now.

The new stadium is just a matter of a couple of hundred yards away.
I've never heard anyone try and argue that it's not their historical home - It's the same road (or lane) as they used to play on.

Yes, thank you, I'm well aware where both stadiums were.

Best of luck to him in finding another job. It's probably the first club that he's been at, that he hasn't left in a far better position than when he took over.

There's no shock he didn't succeed really. He did a good job for us for nearly 2 seasons and then was quickly found out and overstayed his welcome. Probably should drop down a level or 2. Good luck to him.Kingfield Ender wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 9:58 amI'm sure he 'never saw it coming' and will 'never set foot in the place again'

Franchise FC, the epitome of everything that is wrong in modern football.

You're missing the point here, MK Dons took over Wimbledon's place in the league. That is what rankles with supporters and yes the old Wimbledon did play at Plough Lane and few hundred yards from the new Plough Lane so I take that as going home.

Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
Unless I'm mistaken... MK Dons did not take over Wimbledon's place in the league. MK Dons were Wimbledon. Wimbledon relocated in 2003. The MK Dons played under the Wimbledon name until the end of 2003-4 season. The name change prompted the reformation in 2004.From The Jam wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 7:03 pmRe: Ex-Player update: May 2022

What rankled some/most supporters of Wimbledon was the move and the approval by the FA to allow it. do so. Therefore they founded a NEW club in 2002. The NEW club without a previous history - plays is Plough Lane It's like were arguing that a snickers bar is not a marathon.

BTW, Franchise FC do not even acknowledge their history now.
They gave back anything to do with Wimbledon FC to Merton Council.
Merton Council, rightly gave it back to the proper owners, AFC Wimbledon.
Some interesting conversations will be had.

We should've just not spent 30k and waited for a better option. Especially as he was going to take '6 weeks' to get up to speed.

BINGO. Wrong player at the wrong time, to the wrong club. We needed a FL fringe player who would hit the ground running. It screamed for an expensive loan, not a punt at someone who hadn't ever made the step up to this level.
Not having a go at Pavey. It's all on Sarll.

Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
Is the drop off in performance of last season's players all on Darren too?
Some of our so called Senior players haven't stepped up when it mattered.
Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
I think it was Sarls biggest mistake and he could still be manager if he had signed a proper 6 ft 2 number 9, in the summer . We got away with it last season having 3 small men up front , Dackers made them look better as he couldn’t jump and win a header ., but really, really paid for it this season.Nonsense Potter wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 1:32 pmBINGO.
