New Manager

Post by wokingcardinal » Mon Nov 20, 2023 11:16 am

Has anyone heard any new rumours? i wonder what chances we have of getting a new manager by the weekend?

Dyer had 6 games as caretaker last time. I think it will take a few weeks and that's assuming we choose to get someone now and don't write this season off and wait until the summer. Not saying that would be the right thing to do, but I think it's a plausible scenario.

Not adding fuel to the fire but Lee Bradbury was sitting in the family stand on Saturday.

We’re 3 points above relegation zone, we can’t drift until the end of the season or we will go down.

I thought ID was in charge for 2 games ?

If you're going to sack a manager you probably need someone in mind before you do

He did specifically say two games.

I'd expect people like Lee Bradbury to be sniffing around, but we need to do better than that or we might as well have stuck with Sarll.

The fact they were specific in the games Dyer would be in charge for made it sound like there was a plan.

Herein lies the problem, when we potted Dowson we had a decent young manager who was being fucked around by the ownership of his club that we could go and target. This time around...

I just don't see anyone getting a tune out of this mishmash collection of players (mainly injured) - so whoever it is will need some backing. If we're expecting miracles then we're not going to get them unless everyone develops a bit of a Lazarus personality.

Maybe when the contracts for next season are being handed out them some of them might show some form and recover from their injuries

agreed 100%, I think we must have sounded out managers, I have a sneaky feeling Luke Garrad will be one of those.

yeah I don't imagine him leaving Barnet at the moment. I am sure his open and friendly manner would be welcomed by our media team though.....

Ardley has been at York a while now , and they are still struggling , our squad is in a far worse position to theirs ,and he is an experienced manager at this level . This is going to very difficult to get out of this mess who is going to take the players we need to out

If we are giving it to a manager who is out of work I think we'll see them this weekend or next at the latest. Feel like this will happen, whether it is the right person will be much debated.

Appointing Darren took a while as we had to get him out of Yeovil and two weeks before we pulled the trigger the club did a long statement saying Dowse was the man to get us to the FL and we fully backed him, so we were probably starting from scratch when he finally left. I feel this time we'll have been looking for a few weeks already due to how bad the run was/continues to be.

Either way, this is probably the last appointment under this ownership so it has to be right

Whilst I am sure there will be someone being considered, it may take some time to be resolved and certainly it will need Drew to feel as if it is money well spent.

First of all he will to face the pay off due to DS - hopefully there was some form of get out clause in the contract. Usually when a manager goes and a new manager comes in they will want their own backroom staff so there could be a cost attached to that.

Then the new manager will want a budget - you get the feeling not much will have been left from this year's budget.

Also with the higher league transfer window issue the any new players will either have to have their contracts paid off or new players could be a waiting game.

We do know that ID is covering for the next two games which would indicate someone is in mind, but costs could be a significant issue - at least Drew is over here.

Just speculating, but the Club presumably had a process to decide on DS. No doubt others were also considered and may even have been interviewed etc. So the Club may already have had some ideas of a Plan B.

Do we know for sure Sarll was sacked? I could imagine a huge hissy fit and him walking. He wouldn’t have “sacked” on his CV then. Just speculating looking at JKs statement.

I'm not sure anyone puts "sacked" on their CV.

I would be very disappointed -with the greatest of respect- if it's Bradbury or a manager who's only really done it at lower end of NL or NLS/NLN.

We're either serious about going up at some point while I'm still alive or we're not.

Danny Cowley is on Talksport's H&J tomorrow, Ben Fletcher can grill him.
I have another 7 three year plans in me if I'm lucky.

What part of "Woking Football Club can confirm that it has relieved Manager Darren Sarll of his duties with immediate effect." are you struggling with?
