Pin Badge project

Post by WokingHazard » Tue Aug 25, 2020 8:43 pm

In one of the recent videos on twitter, they gave a tour of the club bar mentioning that they were looking for fans to donate memorabilia for the walls.

Well after a potent cocktail of whisky and ebay I ended up with multiple pin badges and sketches of a frame design I'm looking to put together.

Essentially I'm looking to see if anybody has any past pin badges from our history that they would be willing to donate to the project. I've already picked up a couple of fa trophy winners ones and a fantastic one from the 70s (?)

And apologies in advance to those of you who follow me on twitter as you may see a few appeals for this.

I'm looking to collect as many as I can by the expected start of the season on October 3rd with a view to having the frame made up and given to the club shortly after

Would also welcome any input on chronology Image

I gave the club over 20 Woking shirts from years gone by. The idea was to have them up in the bar.

Never seen again and no idea where they are now

He did seem to spend more time in the bar than most of our players

Speak to Cardsfan, he has a number of badges.

The top one above was made by Nick Hicks in late 70s, early 80s. The rest are 90s onwards.

These might help for reference. I have four duplicates of recent badges you are welcome to have for your display. Just PM your details.

I'll happily pay Boost The Budget £20 each for any Woking lapel badges that I don't have. I know there are a couple of other designs of the 1970s large red insert badges.

The badge with playing cards was the first issued by the newly formed supporters club in about 1991/1992. The supporters club badge of the Cardinal holding a football was designed by Sue and Brian Cook in the mid 90s - they’re still regular supporters

There was a guy in the late 80s/90s who used to wear a Blazer with must have been at least 25 or more badges pinned on it, maybe more! We used to call him Mr Badge I wonder if he's still around? Would be great to see him and his Blazer again!

There was also Dave Hebditch who had hundreds of badges on a woking scarf that he wore to every game. I travelled to many away matches with him in the 90's . He sadly is also no longer with us (unless we're all thinking of the same person)

Shame there's not a few more characters around now like we had back then, or maybe there is and I don't know of them.

Apologies for moving slightly off-topic from the OP but this seems to be attracting some interest on Ebay. Medal No 1 of 100 apparently. Presumably issued by the Club?

Clearly some hard-core Cards are going for this!

Yep was club issued. Had actually forgotten all about it until seeing that one on ebay. I've got number 4.

It will make a useful doorstop once they get around to changing the founding date of the club 😉

I reckon you're bidding against Dowse who'll auction it off for charity.

Would look really nice, if a little out of place in my pin badge frame.

Alas, it was meant to be a labour of love and I'm spending too much on it already. I'd better sit this round out
