This has come from the Chester Chairman summarising the options being put to the clubs

So one of these:
  • Clubs take on long term low-interest loans with initial payment holidays
  • The League takes on the loan & gives clubs grants, with future League central payments to clubs then reduced
  • Suspend the season
How viable would the league taking on the loan be? Surely clubs would suffer in the longer term?

maybe cancel the Trophy for a couple of seasons? Not sure what that and the rental of Wemberrleey savings would amount too?

Interesting point about ending the season being an issue for clubs that sold season tickets. But no club was that silly were they??

You'd think they will be allowed to run to next season. We didn't sell season tickets, but did sell the membership scheme which has allowed 1 match as well as VIP hospitality as part of the behind the shirt initiative.

With money apparently in the pipeline for a push towards the Football League in the next few years, the worst thing for Woking this season would be relegation.
Ending this season early would avoid that risk.

Ha! There is that I suppose!

I wonder what all the “part-time” players who don’t have other work feel about their pay-as-you-play contracts when they lose their source of income if it’s all called off?

I’m no advocate of putting oneself into harm’s way, but there’s material consequences to ANY decision.

This Covid-thing didn’t think through all the circumstances it would create when it started!

Concord Rangers have picked up their ball and taken it home. Chair says that they'll play no more games until the finance situation is resolved. <checks to see where they are in the table. Oh right. I see>
