New Woking FC app

Post by TWR » Thu Jun 19, 2025 5:54 pm

Just seen this on the website:

https://wokingfc.co.uk/news/article/893 ... pp-today-/

Generally feel like the demand for, and usage of, apps is overplayed, but have downloaded it to give it a go. Great to see the club innovating new things and finding ways to connect the fans and grow as well.

Downloaded the app and signed in. Has my season ticket there and upcoming friendlies listed.
I know some that will find this useful to alert them to rearranged fixtures, early/late KO times etc to save them turning up for games that have been postponed etc.
Hoping that tomorrow it will alert me to exciting news like Will or Okoli confirmed as signing! 🤞

To be honest the promise of exclusive content and breaking news lured me in…just want to see those boys signed and even the new kit now.

Does your season ticket show in your wallet? I’ve bought mine but can’t see it in the app. It gives me the option to renew my daughter’s so pretty sure I’m signed in correctly.

Isn’t the app exactly the same as the Fan Base app where our seasons tickets are?

Can we delete the Fan Base one now?

Yes. When I click on my wallet the early bird season tickets I bought are all there.

Thanks. Mine seems to have gone from the Fanbase app as well. I have it in the Apple wallet at least.

I never had the Fanbase app so have no comparison to offer there. I haven't put mine in my Google wallet yet, but will, that's a good backup to have. Thanks.

Whilst I am happy that this is launched, I do hope that news etc. will still appear on the club website because some fans don't have mobile phones for whatever reason, can't access apps etc. and as a community club it is important that people are not excluded from club updates.
Digital exclusion is becoming quite a talking point now with more and more people struggling due to a variety of reasons and the less of the fanbase that is excluded the better.

It's not "exclusive" as such, you just get it first on the App, the example is today's news about the pre season match tickets.

Multiple updates and coaches/staff, but not one notification from the app. Was hoping it might be a bit better than this!

Hi all, just a quick update to say the app developers are aware of push notification issues with Apple phones. They should be working okay for Android users. The aim is for the app to grow and grow, provide fans with updates before other platforms, host exclusive content not put out on other platforms, and act as an easier way to receive news, purchase tickets, purchase merchandise, etc.

Ultimately, we could only grow and develop the process and content after we'd launched it. Bear with us whilst we iron out these small issues.

Thanks,
Jonnie

Hi Jonnie,
Thanks for the info. Looking forward to seeing the app service grow.
Just to let you know, in case it helps with the app's development. I'm an Android user and didn't get a push notification on my phone re Ross/Hyde via the app until well after seeing it on Facebook... then jumping over here to see people's reactions to the news and also reading Nonsense Potters post that you've responded to here.

Really boring technical question, is it a standalone app or a web app?

I tried to download it and got the message 'Not available in your country'.

Any ideas why anyone?

I'd imagine it's because it runs through Fanbase (literally the same content as you get on the Woking page on their own app) so that's why it'll only work in the UK

The main WFC site has a big empty space on the main homepage news article, presumably in some way linked to the app only release. Just FYI tech nerds - it looks like it's broken, if that's how they manage the push notifications.
