I have heard that time accelerates as you get older. 34 is crazy.

When we beat West Brom, it was 33 years after winning the Amateur Cup at Wembley in 1958. Now we are 34 years away from the West Brom game.
Back in 1991, the grainy, black and white photos of the Amateur Cup final seemed to belong to ancient history. It’s hard to comprehend that the West Brom game is an even longer period of time ago.
Life does indeed flash by. Still, it’s better than the alternative!

We were in a local hotel pre-match. I predicted 6-0 to West Brom when interviewed on local radio !!

The whole match was just a blur
Still Plugging away in the absence of the great one

I’m annoyed by how little I remember of the day. I can’t remember travelling on the coach, entering the ground or travelling home. I can remember being chuffed that it was still 0-0 after 15 minutes, and I remember a gathering mood of disbelief and chaos as the second half progressed. I suppose it was too quick and ridiculous to have the time to take it all in. The following day I bought every single Sunday paper from the newsagent at the bottom of Maybury Hill. Nothing since has surpassed the excitement of that time, although the first Wembley win runs it close.

I remember so much from that day.

Driving up, seeing so many cards fans on the road.
Going for a beer in a pub near the ground and told to leave by the local police as this was a home pub.
Getting to the ground early, watching that corner fill up to completely full.
Playing well in the 1st half, Mitchell's disallowed goal, their 1st goal and thinking thats it.
Standing at half time listening to my then brother-in-law telling me he coud smell an upset...

and then the best 15 minutes anyone who was there will ever experience at a football match. It changed our club forever.

I put Microsoft's Copilot AI to the test by asking what Tim Buzaglo did 34 years ago for Woking FC.
Here's the answer:
34 years ago, in 1991, Tim Buzaglo made history with Woking FC during the FA Cup. In the third round match against West Bromwich Albion, Buzaglo scored an incredible **hat-trick in 13 minutes** in the second half, taking the team from 1-0 to 4-2 and securing a memorable victory. This achievement made Buzaglo a true legend for Woking FC and one of the most glorious moments in the club's history.

So many memories from this day despite being 10yrs old -

* my Dad treading in dog shite in his new boots from xmas when we stopped on coach, much to our amusement
* making my Dad take me to the toilet and returning to our seats to see the 3rd goal unfold
* my Dad chatting with NonsensePotters dad in the car park before the game discussing what could happen and then them hugging and embracing like young kids after the game before getting back on coach.
* the noise and release after each goal, something as a young lad I had not experienced before

Yes, I did that as well - from W H Smith in the town centre. When I went to the checkout to pay, the sales assistant looked at the wad of papers, smiled and said "Another Woking fan!" - so clearly there were quite a few of us doing the same thing.

My main recollection of the game itself is going 3-1 up, looking at my watch and thinking "We should be able to get a draw out of this now...". Oh, and sitting in the carpark afterwards in dazed disbelief, listening to the radio and hearing the presenter making a joke about "When we sent Rob Hawthorne to the Hawthorns, we should have expected something special."

Snap with the papers. Not sure the newsagents knew what was going on

as for the day itself, like others, I dont remember much as it was all a haze, and most of the memories come from watching the game many a time since. I dont remember seeing Mitchells disallowed goal though, as mentioned by LC above

what a day that was, just to be proud to be a WFC fan. Also the reception we got from the home fans on the pitch afterwards.

I drove to the ground, and remember parking right behind the stand, I've still got the car park ticket. We were at the top for most of the game, but I remember watching Worsfold's header through the fence at the bottom. No idea how I got there!! Plenty of benards.
I have another 6 three year plans in me if I'm lucky.

So you are acquainted with the NonsensePotters!
You both ought to be in your 50ies (54ish?). Memories that are heart-warming.

Watching Woking at times does feel like I've aged more than I have, but I am not yet at the half-century for good few years :)

I didn't see you there? ;-)

Not long after we got on a coach to Goodison. Parked at Anfield and left our Woking scarves on the Shankly Gates. Pretty sure we then walked across Stanley Park to Goodison and found a local pub that welcomed us in. I don't think I'm imagining it but they had sheep eyeballs or similar on the bar as snacks. The praise from the stadium announcer for our outstanding support and the standing ovation from the Everton Fans will also live long in my fading memories.
