Danny Cowley is on Talksport's H&J tomorrow, Ben Fletcher can grill him.
has he been on yet?
anything of note said?
Yes he was on for over half an hour. No real news about their next job, though he did seem to suggest it might not have been geography that caused him to turn down Bradford City.

I do find it hilarious that this morning someone told us their son had seen Stuart Maynard in O’Neills with Drew on Saturday night. Wealdstone were away to Halifax on Saturday…. 😂
My next door neighbour's auntie's postman saw John Katz talking to Gareth Southgate in a drive through KFC car park, at 4:45am this morning.

I'm guessing it's as reliable as the Maynard/Volpe rumour.
Not really. As half of the initial rumour is true as Drew was indeed in O’Neils as I and a couple of my fellow long standing supporters spoke with him. He was there with a couple of notable ex players who were also very happy to chat about a few things, and a great evening was had by all.

There's been plenty of other suggestions. Sarll was mentioned after Dowse left pretty early on. I'm not going to accuse anyone of revising history, that's your job apparently.
Oh, so beautifully petty :')

There have been suggestions. The best realistic one probably is Maynard, and that's of some concern to me, but at least ticks the 'more attractive football' box so many of the pearl-clutchers deeply crave. Wouldn't be my choice though.

I'm hoping the directors have something up their sleeve that has gone unmentioned so far.

Can we have Rosemary as coach/woman-ager?
I know, she'll become crosseyed: one eye to accounts one eye to field; she'll do a fine job. Granted.

Petty but accurate.

We may argue some of the suggestions are fantastical, and may scoff at others.

As for Maynard, I'm in agreement with you. It's a risk. A bigger risk than Sarll was. If John and Drew are serious, surely we should be aiming our sights higher than Maynard? Although if it meant the return of Jack Cook, I'm in.

We need someone in pretty quickly. They will want funds.

Hoping we get an announcement tomorrow RE new manager progress as for me I feel we need a new gaffer in ASAP as the players need a much needed lift and a new manager will be able to come in and try and work some magic.

As mentioned on another thread it is slightly concerning that now BFG has retired we apparently appear to have no real 'football nous' on the board....who is selecting candidates/shortlisting/appointing the new manager? And then there's the issue of funding a squad for the 2nd half of the season- up until tonight I was still fairly optimistic we could salvage something from this season but looking at the league table just now my optimism is rapidly fading.

The last manager they employed was pretty decent, wouldn't you say?

So you just assuming it was all down to Geoff then? That's how it works?

ok well seeing as you know it all can you enlighten us to who on the board are the ones with a bit of (non league) football knowlege who will be assisting Katz & friends in appointing a manager who will be given the task of keeping us up?

Pretty sure they were assisted last time (and probably again this time) by Ivor Heller at Wimbledon.

Well I imagine they will start a thread on here, asking for the Cardboard brains trust input, that would be the sensible thing to do. 🤔

Pretty sure that, even though "retired", BFG would still provide ad-hoc assistance at times like this, if requested.

I got the feeling last night that we are nowhere near appointing a new manager. Nobody's CV was up to scratch so far and we may be waiting for a sacking.

Boreham Wood is a real 6 pointer but only for the most hard of hardcore supporter.
I have another 7 three year plans in me if I'm lucky.

This is a very tricky appointment - what are our options in terms of "profile" of manager:

1. Experienced manager who has managed in the league, but is out of work (i.e. Cowley)
2. Inexperienced manager / recently retired player who has had a short spell in the league, looking for another attempt at management (i.e. Betsey)
3. Someone with National League experience, but hasn't been promoted (i.e. Garrard)
4. Someone with lower league pyramid success, who we think can take the step up

At this level, it's not like managers can afford not to work, so I'd be interested in who is interested in the role who might see themselves "above Woking" in a previous role perhaps. I can't see Katz going for inexperience personally.

I think we're a good option for a young manager early in their career who is looking to make a name for themselves, before trying to get a league 1 or championship job in the next 3 to 4 years.

What about Mark Hudson. Guildford raised, and clearly has a desire to be a manager, but hasn’t really had the opportunity at a higher level aside from caretaker roles and a relatively short and unsuccessful spell at Cardiff. Aside from that it’s been u23s and coaching roles. Could we be an opportunity to make a name for himself?

I believe the owners have a clear vision. I think they got the appointment right with DS. It was just a shame that DS tried to get too cute in the last close season and was unable to fix his clear and obvious howlers. Hoping for an experienced manager with promotions on his CV. Whilst there may not be a whole load of direct football experience on the board we shouldn't underestimate the "experience" that is there either. You don't become a successful business(person) by guessing. I'm sure they know a little more about what they are doing going forward than some give them credit for.
