Midweek games
Ebbsfleet v FGR
Fylde v Boston
Oldham v Maidenhead
Southend v Shots
Yeovil v Tamworth
Seem to remember a fair few results went against the grain and against us last season -meaning our dramatic improvement in form around 12 months ago didn't count for much in the end other than keeping us going with the chasing pack- so whilst taking nothing for granted (and I get the adage about it being in our hands/who cares what others are doing etc) it'd be nice to go into tomorrow with an opportunity to pull even further clear rather than a sense of pressure/desperation to get the cushion back to 6 points.
Braintree v Wealdstone tomorrow night is another good opportunity for a side around us to drop points.
Ultimately, five wins between now and May should comfortably do it. No better place to tick one of those off than tomorrow.

Re: Midweek games
Interestingly no one can go above us tonight, but should we win tomorrow we wont be able to go above anyone either

Re: Midweek games
Forgot about Eastleigh v D&R. Daggers have gone off a cliff since beating Ebbsfleet NYD.
I am increasingly of the view that we'll be alright and with a few games to spare. We're in a much better place under NA than we were under MD 12 months ago when we could only draw with Wealdstone (?) leaving me convinced we were done....and then we went and beat Gateshead.
However...seem to remember last season we had a considerable goal difference advantage as we approached the run-in. Not the case this time around. Shouldn't come to that...

Re: Midweek games
It's then any 2 from 7, of which we are 1. We still have 5 of the of the other 6 immediately below us to play, as well as Boston.
Re: Midweek games
Teams like D&R form is going the other way & that can be difficult to turn around - none of D&R, Ebbsfleet, Solihull or Yeovil have won a game in the last 6.
Have to agree with Two of Diamonds, feels like it 2 others to join Ebbsfleet and Boston.
Re: Midweek games
But if we’d turned those draws into wins we’d be in the playoffs. It’s not good enough.

It’s all the new people’s fault! Why can’t it be dull AF like the old days?

Re: Midweek games
The midfield is pedestrian, the defence is OK and Walker couldn’t hit a barn door but we’re a good team. RAAAAAAH.

Tamworth beating Yeovil, which is dragging them down towards us.

Alderplop lose - tick
Tamworth lose - tick
Maidenhead win - booo
As an aside Oxford City have now lost 4 on the bounce as well and have to play the top 2 next before we go there.
Re: Midweek games
Oxford city signed Laurie Walker today - I know he has played there before but always seemed a top end NL GKTwo of Diamonds wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 10:56 pmFylde lose - tick

Re: Midweek games
We need 0.8 points a game to get to 50. Winning half of those games alone would put us on 47.

They’re coming down again that day when our fourth flies in and Inih starts twerking.

Re: Midweek games
Have the Shots ever actually paid us for the repeat damage caused to CLT?
Would love to send them down. They should have gone a year or two back but for a reprieve if I recall correctly.
Dorking is a far more civilised rivalry to potentially look forward to with humans who are bit more evolved than our Hampshire neighbours.

Re: Midweek games
They then get walloped by the Heed and Alty, make the decision to pot TW before it's too late, hire some kind of former club legend on a short-term basis to be assisted by Terry Brown. Upturn in form coincides with losing to Alty again in the Trophy, they arrive at Kingfield needing a win to be totally safe, a horrible 2-1 win ensues where we are largely shit and someone mouthy like Barrett or Frost scores a late deflected winner.
The caretaker manager gets the job full time, the East Bank club together to buy a massive piece of cloth to celebrate "A NEW START" and then you can replay the last two years again. Until Azeem goes.
Re: Midweek games
Why the hell do you want a civilised rivalry? And there is no rivalry with Dorking, they are the new StainesCalluna Card wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 12:42 pmHave the Shots ever actually paid us for the repeat damage caused to CLT?

Re: Midweek games
I've never liked Aldershot games, even the rare occasions when we win. Some of the worst fans in Britain, the atmosphere is always utterly toxic and truth be told I've probably got PTSD by one massive injustice from many moons ago (2-1 home defeat in 2004 when Fergie scored one of the best goals in the club's history against Nikki Bull before Justin Richards was sent off for kicking the ad hoardings in frustration....the referee that day -Stephen Dorr- later went to prison for child sex offences*) .Meerkat wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 1:15 pmWhy the hell do you want a civilised rivalry? The Dorking "rivalry" may be a bit contrived but at least they are in Surrey and you can still get a drink within a 10 mile radius of the stadiums home or away.

They haven't scored a late winner against us for a couple of seasons now, so it's surely due based on the history:Kanu's Nan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 1:12 pmthey arrive at Kingfield needing a win to be totally safe, a horrible 2-1 win ensues where we are largely shit and someone mouthy like Barrett or Frost scores a late deflected winner.
21/04/2014 Woking Aldershot Town 1 - 2 (Molesley 83)
28/12/2014 Woking Aldershot Town 1 - 2
02/01/2016 Woking Aldershot Town 2 - 1
01/01/2017 Woking Aldershot Town 1 - 2 (Gallagher 90)
01/01/2018 Woking Aldershot Town 1 - 2 (Rendell 89')
06/08/2019 Woking Aldershot Town 0 - 1
02/01/2022 Woking Aldershot Town 2 - 3 (Andrews 88’ Ndjoli 90+4')
01/01/2023 Woking Aldershot Town 4 - 1
01/01/2024 Woking Aldershot Town 2 - 3
Either that or it's due to be a draw based on law of averages.
Re: Midweek games
Dorking are never going to create the atmosphere and crowds of Aldershot games, and the horrible fear/expectation of losing is what makes the good results so brilliant.Calluna Card wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 1:44 pmI've never liked Aldershot games, even the rare occasions when we win. Personally I think the best result is for them to get relegated and then saved at the last moment by Fylde going pop. Let them have the trauma, and then be messed up planning for the wrong league, and keep the derbies.
