Ex-Player update: May 2022
Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
Some interesting conversations will be had.
Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
Wheeler always looked very average for us. Clearly talented but never quick enough to be a winger and that was 5 years ago!
Absolutely fair play to him because he’s had a very decent career since and at 32 now seems to be smashing it with table topping Worthing. Seems to suite ball playing teams which, let’s face it, was never going to be a Dowse team.

He needs a loan spell IMO.

That clip is 6 years old. According to Wiki he is now playing for his 50th club, Slough town, as player/coachChrisH wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 3:10 pmHaving a read through all of this....a few names made me stop and think 'no way he can still be playing...' and then I came across this little cameo which made me laugh. 'Jouneyman' yeah, and some.... https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/s ... rson-louis

. Kabamba!, terrible decision to not retain him on the clubs part and I'm bringing it up again purely to offer another opinion on the fact we had clearly overtaken Barnet by last season end in terms of squad quality. Summer signings appear to have improved Barnet to the extent I wouldn't bet against them to go on and win it. Us!! Lbh it's looking like we're regressed on pitch and I obviously can't comment on dressing room. Ranting over and hopefully go unnoticed on this thread. Good luck though Darren, the lads and boss men. We couldn’t retain him, he wasn’t our player. He was only on loan so it would then come down to if the club wanted to make an offer for him as a free agent. He was hardly on fire for us.Old Woking United wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 11:37 amBroken record moment but I'm gonna say it again

The player we had looked disinterested, was a wayward finisher, lazy, unfit and generally quite shit. When we played there at the start of last season he won more in the air in one half than he did in all of his Woking games.Red and White Army wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 10:22 pmWasn’t Kabamba widely derided as shit when he was with us anyway?
Maybe it was the formation, maybe it was that he couldn't play with Effiong, maybe he was carrying an injury, maybe he sulked when Dowse left (although he was crap before IMO) - but I don't remember anyone asking to keep him at the end of his loan spell.

I remember him as hard working, at least. Busy and physically very handy, but toothless most of the time.Nonsense Potter wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 6:55 amThe player we had looked disinterested, was a wayward finisher, lazy, unfit and generally quite shit. If memory serves we stuck him out on the right a lot - remember that no look assist on his debut? The winner against Maidenhead was an of an 'oh, that's what he's capable of' moment, for me.
He was also a bit of a victim of Dowse exhaustion. When people are getting tired of almost everything the manager says, and he's been talking about this particular striker for years, and said striker then doesn't score in his first ten games (by which time Dowse had gone lol), think there was much more of a focus on DS's refresh. Trying to sign a striker on League money who had four goals all season wasn't high on the priority list.
