Ex-Player update: May 2022
Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
So that may not be a solution if hearing has deteriorated, also, of course, it takes time to adjust.
Loss of hearing can also affect balance.

It can't be easy playing with such an issue, so credit to Rohan. I think he also had injury issues this season just gone.Kanu's Nan wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 10:00 amDepends how much we're paying him and how bad this rumoured issue with his hearing is. Ince has been in demand ever since we got him. I don't think we will get a fee, but as he wasn't getting into match day squads, I assume he'd look at offers where he's going to play.

He does drive. Has a red BMW with a personalised number plate.Lurker wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 10:17 amAlso he doesn't drive, so tends to play for clubs who are local to him (Maidenhead, us).Kanu's Nan wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 10:00 am

I think his main issue is his knee. Hadn't recovered fully all season since being off for 6 weeks.Cardinals Rule wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 2:27 pmIt can't be easy playing with such an issue, so credit to Rohan. Some interesting conversations will be had.

Also Michael Kamara is a coach at Croydon, Sean Swift came on as a second half sub for Knaphill (ex Woking academy)

Option a) Cuthbert at 37 should not have been an option in much more than an emergency. Sarll signed him to play far less games than he did in Y1 and he's played a damn sight more in Y2. Yes it's a credit to Scott, but it's an indictment on how poor the rest of the recruitment was. Therefore whilst he's a big loss as a voice and a leader, realistically, this is something that we probably needed to do anyway.
Option b) Doyle has now seen his captain and his de-facto captain reject terms to go back to being part-time and to go into coaching, which suggests that the terms we were offering were not juicy enough and therefore somewhat token. Maybe both players recognised they had gone past their point of being able to help. On top of that, the only players he's optioned were at best a surprise and at worse a massive fucking shock and he's released a fan favourite excellent midfielder who cost a lot but he'd not really seen play.
I'm probably more option a) myself at this present moment because it's still bloody May, but I'm pretty confused about our activity thus far!
Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
I think it's probably somewhere between the two. If either Cuthbert or Casey were expected to be first choice next season it would have been a worry, but, as you to say, to lose your captain, vice-captain, and POTY is not a great start to the recruitment drive and will potentially give others doubts about joining/renewing too. Hopefully Doyle has some aces up his sleeve and if it means we sign Odusina, Berkoe, or a similar calibre of player as replacements then we'll all feel more positive.Kanu's Nan wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 12:27 pmRight there's two sides to this, depending on how sunny you are.

Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
I wouldn't have retained Cuthbert as a starting centre half, simply due to age not past performance. But yes, with Casey leaving as well, does leave us seriously needing of a positive recruitment turnover in terms of the leaders within the squad.

Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022
Jayden Wareham had an option activated on his deal at Reading. He'll stay there another year.
Charlie O'Connell transfer listed by Peterborough, who do that for all of their players with one year left on their deals. (That includes Tshimanga this year!)

Wareham left Woking 3 seasons ago. And has still played more league games for us (17) than his other clubs combined (12).Chobham Card wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 3:57 pmLeo Hamblin sings a new one-year deal at Weymouth.

His 7 sub appearances at Reading amount to <90 mins of actual pitch time.
Hes 21 today. Surely he should actually play some first team football rather than academy stuff?

A pivotal attribute in high-performing environments whether it be in sport or business. These include:
- Enhanced reputation
- Increased dependability
- More opportunity for growth and learning”
So thoughtful. Absolute word salad which could just say “it’s better not to be injured”.
