Cracking JK American interview

A fascinating and very reassuring interview by JK on a minor league baseball podcast.

Starts about 19 mins in.

This is a great find. Interesting to understand the cultural differences and where he comes from in that respect.

He’s put his hand in, big style.

Hopefully folks will get off his back.
Looking forward to see everyone again at Kingfield, soon.
Some interesting conversations will be had.

Agreed. I think he gets a lot of crap on here by some people. Totally unjustified. He spends a large chunk of his time over from the states away from his family. I even read on here recently he is only doing it for his own personal gain. How many Non League owners have made money?

Great interview and insight into Katz, it broke up a boring Saturday with no football (whilst decorating)

A lot of crap from who? According to Katz, it's a minority giving Dowse stick, so the amount giving Katz stick must be very, very small. The only criticism levied at him is his faith in Dowse. I hope he is proven right.

But let's not start fictitious agendas. Grow up.

Never said anything about Dowse. A few people on here (not naming names) claim he's at the club for his own personal gain.

Judging by everyone's reaction in the KRE at 4.50 at the Aldershot home game, it isn't a minority is it? I think we can agree on that.

Calm down

Stop drinking and reconsider your response.

I'm referring Dowse to highlight your quite frankly ridiculous point. Who and how many are Anti Katz?

Again, my original post didn’t include Dowse.

Are you sure it’s me who needs to stop drinking?

I know, and I explained why. It's fairly simple. Let's focus back on Katz....

Dodge the question, do you work in Downing Street?

What is an acceptable number of people who have a dig at katz for you to deem it an actual thing?
When someone has a dig at katz and then someone else says oh shut up, that's not someone saying you all have an agenda, that's someone saying shut up to someone else.
There's no need to go over the top with your defense of Londoncard etc.

Indeed. There are, by my count, four people on this thread alone, who think that there are quite a lot of digs at Katz on this board. Are they all wrong?

None of the ‘happy clappers’ have ever used the word ‘agenda’, by the way, Card Sharp. That comes from you. I don’t see any agendas here. Just people talking about football who disagree with each other. Some people like Dowse. Some don’t. Some like Katz. Some think he’s just using the club to make a fuckload of money. Agenda and opinion are not the same thing.

I'm not sure the question you pose actually conclusively supports your view that JK is NOT investing for personal gain. I have nothing whatsoever against JK, but struggle to believe that somebody with 30+ years experience of US sporting business would up sticks to a different continent (and sport) and invest in that wonderful Money Pit With Apparent Unlimited Potential that is Woking FC if he did not believe that it could be made profitable and from which, as an investor, he would benefit.

The interview seems to indicate that he has instinctively picked up on some of the various 'criteria for success' which are often debated on this Forum, so we shall see in what order, if at all, these are addressed - and how successfully.

In some ways it may be better if he avoids the slippery slope of becoming a 'fan', with all the passionate lack of common sense that this entails when it comes to one's 'own' team and its probable failure to deliver the required outcomes. As we know...it's the hope that gets you.

Some think both. You can think he wants to make money, and still think he could be good for the club (or at least better than than the alternatives!

Any chance of a small summary of what was said?

Its not really something that could be summarized in a few bullet points.

It's not a list of what he wants, expects, hopes etc etc for WFC, it's a podcast aimed at Minor League baseball fans in the US as to why and how he ended up owning an English level 5 club.

Very interesting, highlights the clear differences between MiBL and UK NL fans and their expectations, what going to the game and supporting a team means, something JK clearly gets and understands.

Well worth a listen.

Fascinating insight into the sporting culture differences . Big learning curve for JK but he’s on it for sure . Worth listening to.
