It’s an absolute tragedy that television programmes still never show the third goal in its full glory whenever FA Cup third round highlights programmes are on.
Such a truly wonderful counter-attacking team goal.

I remember Grandstand did a feature on Woking after the West Brom game. I used to have it on VHS and watched it over and over again. Until my Mum accidentally recorded over it with Coronation Street... Anyway, alongside interviews with Adie Cowler and Fred Callaghan (in his cab!), they showed that goal in full. Absolute class. I like to think that Arsene Wenger based his football philosophy on that goal...

Full match! Minus a few seconds here or there which were missing from the VHS copy I had, so the match clock won’t be 100% accurate in it at times.

Really enjoyed that, thanks so much for uploading. I’ve seen the goals many times over the years but had never seen the whole match. Has there ever been a better giant-killing than this one? It wasn’t backs to the wall, riding our luck. The better team won and the score line didn’t flatter.

I’m struck by a few things after watching that:

1. Derreck Brown was a bit good, wasn’t he?
2. How on earth did Buzaglo never play at a higher level?!
3. How fucking big was Bonking Bradley?! There’s a shot at the end where he’s standing behind a crowd of players/fans with his arms in the air. I’m thinking he must be on someone’s shoulders. Then the crowd disperses a little and it turns out that he’s actually about 10 feet tall!

Thanks again for uploading. A tonic, in difficult times.

1. a bit good doesnt do Dereck Brown justice. he was a fantastic player
2. simple really, he didnt have the desire to. was happy just playing with his mates. Whilst he got the plaudits for the win at WBA, he was nowhere near the best player we had
3. he was Huge

and Card Sharp, I think if you asked Adie what he was doing that far up the pitch for the 3rd goal he wouldnt know himself

Two thoughts immediately spring to mind.

1. Never knew Simeon Hodson was on the subs bench for West Brom that day.
A player I almost think of as synonymous with the Conference given how many times he seemed to play against Woking for various clubs.
In actuality though he’s one of the few players in English football to have been relegated from each of the top 5 divisions at some point in his career.

2. It’s an absolute tragedy that television programmes still never show the third goal in its full glory whenever FA Cup third round highlights programmes are on.

Number 2 bugs me so much! All the football before that goal is what makes it - from a non-league team outplaying a 2nd division team. Yet they only ever show the finish, as you say.

In those far off days before mobiles and instant news I was in darkest West Africa and had not a clue that we were still in the Cup until I arrived home the day before the Everton game.

Floods of memories today, and tears of disbelief that day. Something I am so happy I will always have in my memory.

Though somewhat myopically I never thought we got the credit that performance deserved, it seemed that within a short time better quality filmed and supposedly "sexier" results saw us consigned to only the most comprehensive. The gap between the two teams and the size of the victory merited more I always felt.
