Agreed - a really solid performance all round. No doubt things will rejig themselves after the games in hand for other teams below have been played, but 2nd in the table (for now) is lovely to see.

Defeats for Aldershot and Stevenage as added sweeteners to the afternoon.

Oh, that, and the match itself generating more discussion than the stream this time! Good stuff all round.

You’d struggle to find a much clearer example of a ‘50/50 challenge’ than the incident in question. I’d be interested to hear exactly how anyone suggesting otherwise has arrived at such a conclusion.

Really changed the complexion of the game, from looking comfortable at 2-0, Barnet have been much on the front foot since. Thank god we at least have the lead to defend!
Exactly this. It was a foul BY the Barnet player if anything!

It was 25 years ago today that the Cardinals beat the Bees 2-1 at Kingfield in an FA Cup 1st Round Replay at Kingfield.

Dave Timothy’s reaction when Barnet missed the penalty, priceless!!!

I know we’ll slip a bit, but when you think what full timers like Torquay have spent getting to where they are, it really shows how fortunate we are to have Dowse and the club’s overall mindset.

The dirty cheating scummers getting beat today as well, what a day!

Clear 2nd yellow for Cooper I’m afraid. Before his first yellow the ref let him off with kicking the ball away as well, he’s been excellent but perhaps offers Goddard or Block a way back in if they can recover in time.

Lofthouse has really grown into it at right back.

Up to 2nd , a bit of a false position as we’ve played 2 or 3 games more than the others up at the top . Still 50 % win rate after 10 games keep that up and we safe this season .
it's not false stu. it's there in black and white right in front of you. Win games - get more points.

Not many Woking teams over the years would have demolished Barnet like that, even with 11 players.
Lovely to watch.

I don’t understand the debate.

I’d love to see that exact tackle made against us and see how many would claim it’s a 2nd yellow. I imagine 100% of people on here would.

You could tell Cooper knew he was in danger of being sent off as he stayed down for ages, but walked off absolutely fine after getting the red card.

At least it’s only a one game ban.

The debate stems from posters suggesting it was a clear/warranted booking for Cooper, and this being a frankly inaccurate standpoint. Granted, the referee only got to see the incident once and in real time - however we had the benefit of a replay, of which was also from a possibly more advantageous view for the incident itself, to help aid our discussions regarding the matter.

It was a ball of which the Barnet man did indeed first get a foot to, but the actual contact in question did in fact then came from his momentum carrying him into Cooper.

The referee also (very audibly) had Barnet players swiftly surrounding and shouting in his ear of their desire for him to receive a second yellow card for the incident. Whilst of course we’ll never know for certain, I wouldn’t be surprised if this pressure influenced his decision to then brandish said second yellow card.

Interestingly, a read of the match thread from Barnet’s forum shows their fans stating how they feel the sending off was harsh, and simply a coming together.

Whichever way I look at it, on a yellow card you really have to be sure for those types of tackles....it really is that simple. Stupid decision to attempt that kind of '50/50' tackle as you are lunging and stretching...he was booked less than a minute earlier.

No complaints from me whatsoever. Other than Cooper is probably my fave player, but at least it is only a 1 game ban.

A still photo doesn't prove anything but this is the tackle in question.

That would make a great source file for a spot the ball competition.
The picture could easily be interpreted that the Barnet #26 is moving away with the ball whilst Cooper and the #40 are tackling fresh air

Edit to add: I'd say that Cooper's body position is far more natural than the Barnet player who has got his standing leg tucked under him.
Without all the other players in shot it could just be a still of a man who has stumbled over.

Yesterday’s 4-1 win over Barnet was the first time that the Cardinals had defeated the Bees at Kingfield for exactly 25 years to the day. Ironically Charlie Cooper’s father, Mark was playing for Barnet on that day in November 1995.

That was a a phenomenal performance yesterday. Down to 10 men with an hour to go, and going on to score two more goals! What? Un-be-lie-vable! Well done to the players and management. I absolutely loved that.

Oh, ho, ho! Exhibit A! Butter wouldn't melt in Charlie's mouth. Probably not the view the ref had, but even so. (please delete any pictures showing the opposite)
