Re: New Player Incoming!
The 18-year-old defender joins on loan from Premier League side Ipswich Town until the end of the 2024/25 season.
A Lithuanian youth international, Mazionis spent time as a schoolboy with the West Ham and Arsenal academies, before moving on to join Kinetic Foundation.
He also spent time with Thurlow Nunn League First Division South side Enfield Borough, breaking into the first team at just 16 years old, before going on trial with Ipswich in March 2023.
In summer 2022, Mazionis represented Lithuania’s U17s at the Baltic Cup in Finland having previously won caps at U16 level.
Mazionis was successful in signing a professional deal with Ipswich in May 2023, before breaking into their under-21 side at the end of last season. He is now captain, and joins the Cards on his first loan move looking to gain experience at senior level.
Director of Football Jody Brown added, "We thought long and hard about bringing someone in on a permanent deal, but when we analysed the market we just didn’t feel we could get the right one. Jacob was identified as a young player that could could come into our group and add some things we need.
"We worked closely with Ipswich to make it work, they have a lot of belief in Jacob, and we are excited to play a part in his development. The priority with our recruitment has to be us - and the entire football department feel Jacob will be an asset for the remainder of the season."
Jacob will wear the number 19 shirt.

Re: New Player Incoming!
My Ipswich correspondent says he's very highly thought of and had they not gone up he might have had some more game time in cups but as they have it's meant more new signings and probably slowed that progress.Red and White Army wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 4:27 pmExcellent. Re: New Player Incoming!
Odusina replacement I reckon. Perhaps limited funds to replace a player out injured. Hopefully we get another defender to replace Dyche.

Re: New Player Incoming!
Some fantastic noises coming out of the club at the moment. Brown is ticking almost every box on the January to-do-list. While we are getting what we want, I do think we need one more central defender. Ideally one that can double up as a one of the full back positions.

I’m guessing that they’re known to each other, so bodes well.
The Kinetic Foundation sounds like something the Legendary George Clinton would have headed up in the early 1970s.

Re: New Player Incoming!
We've had a few. As well as those mentioned I can also think of a centre half (someone Robinson maybe?) and Ben Morris. For a while under Lord Hill we had a good relationship with them, but then we didn't play Morris who was their big hope in the Academy at the time and it seemed to all dry up, whether that was coincidental or not I don't know. Painfully Aldershot then got McDonnell, Fowler and Benyu at similar times who had really good effects. This new kid is very highly rated but how he copes with being bumped around a bit is always the key with the young loans. Don't think it ever hurts to be thought of positively by a club with a youth setup as good as Ipswich though.

No mention of limited funds?, unlike which we heard regularly under Doyle. Is this the start of a campaign questioning the length of desire in Todd's pockets?
Re: New Player Incoming!
Not at all. I just meant, you wouldn't sign a player on a permanent deal unless they could improve the team and it fit within the budget. We're arguably short two defenders as we've lost Odusina and Dyche. Odusina will still be getting paid, so perhaps we decided to go for a cheaper option as cover here so we can still pursue a suitable replacement for Dyche. Only a theory and certainly not a criticism.kansasCard wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:53 pmJody said.

If we can't find the right player to sign then a loan is a no brainerGlenH wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:10 pmNot at all.
