From an income point of view yes, but hopefully if they go to non-regulars who come back than it's a good thing.

14 defeats from 22 however.

Amazing really , well done those involved in getting people in.

Considering the overall shit season in terms of results , nothing to play for (for a while) and the style of football - these numbers are remarkable. The buzz around the ground has been its best for years.

Funny enough our best performances at home yielded less than average attendance
CHESTERFIELD 1855 – (213 away fans)
DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE 2,226 (161 away fans)
WREXHAM 2697 (658 away)

We have also sold out our away allocation (slightly reduced ) 3 times this year which also has to be a recorded surely ?

But there is massive potential for this club as this season shows, we have a great catchment area and with some decent football and results- crowds will get even better. We need to work on getting the family and particularly younger kids hooked as mentioned many times.

We have the 7th best attendance in the league and the highest out of all the non former league clubs so with that in mind and the fact it’s been a crap season especially at home I’d say that is really good going. I would love for us to hit the 3,000 mark next season that would very impressive

This is the first season where we’ve started counting the attendance as tickets sold (including season tickets and those given for free) as opposed to the actual attendance.

So I imagine that makes a big difference to higher than normal figure…

exactly - back in 97/98 we weren't including all Season ticket holders in the figure like we do now. Would be interesting to know what the actual average attendance has been.

Wouldn’t read too much into it this figure seeing as we’ve Eastleighed it.

That said, at least from what it looked like in the ground, we never really did come close to having the sub-1,000 crowds that some predicted on here amid the darkest of Dowse times.

Yes, I got my first season ticket in the early nineties when I was a naive teenager 🙂Maybe Doylie can enlighten us to when the first season tickets were issued??

I remember my mate’s Dad having a Season Ticket in the late 70s, they weren’t as common in those days as it was buttons to get in, but they did exist.

I’ve had one pretty much since the late 80s - except for last season when I deliberately didn’t get one - due to a serious allergic reaction to Dowse-Ball.

I believe it was 1970/71 season: "A new innovation this year are £3 season tickets covering admission to ground only."

Rosemary did confirm that the method for counting attendances this year has changed compared to previous seasons, but the numbers look good nonetheless!

She did and as a few people have said above it could be pointless comparing but it certainly has been busier in the ground for the majority of games this season. Of course, free tickets are amongst that, but you'll make much more on match day with 2.5k there rather than 1.6k. Especially with the great work done off the pitch. I'm actually quite surprised so many kept turning up when we were rubbish, even with free tickets, so well done to all involved!
