Re: Do you enjoy football?

Always hated playing Welling. Apart from the Dowse season when we beat them in the FA Cup and playoff final. Ironic isn't it that the only time we worked out how to play Welling was when we had the most Welling style manager we've had in my lifetime. Haha yep. I remember reading on their forum afte...

Re: Alan Judge

Not sure signing someone for the last 6 games of the season has too much of a downside.

Slightly different to handing out 2 year contracts to injury prone players.

Re: Do you enjoy football?

There was a game at Dover towards the end of the GOOD Garry Hill season when we were on a ridiculous run and were edging towards the playoffs. We went 1-0 up from Odubade then lost 2-1 late on when Brian Saah got sent off. Felt like a massive missed opportunity at the time. The last minute home def...

In case you do not know, you can watch Woking v Southend live in the UK this Saturday on National league TV.
is that different to the streaming platform then?

Re: Do you enjoy football?

At the other end there was the must win away game v Maidenhead when we fluked a 1 - 0 lead in the 80th minute - cue delirium. Then Maidenhead equalized and what followed was inevitable - Jake Hyde scored the Maidenhead winner. It was at that point relegation seemed certain - euphoria to despair in ...

Interesting that no-one from the bottom 6 plays each other between now and the end of the season.

Re: currently watching

Keeps Wealdstone in the relegation battle for now. Huge game for them at home to Kiddy on Saturday. They've got so many games. Their fans are whinging about player welfare etc, they've clearly got a lot of spirit and should have enough points from their games already to scuff a few more. But they'v...

So since Dyer was "relieved of his duties" are record is as follows:

Won 4
Drawn 1
Lost 1

Discuss.
Yeah a lot of knickers getting in a twist, it's amazing how wins can make people forget!!
I didn’t really see many people complaining. Just that it was odd timing.

Re: currently watching

Even after they've won the league, you'd still back Chesterfield to beat bottom half teams, especially at home. They haven't lost at home all season. Kidderminster have to play Chesterfield and Barnet away. If you assume they lose those, that would leave them needing to win 3 of their other 4 remain...

Re: Do you enjoy football?

Couple of other moments to add into the mix: The turnaround at Chester: 82nd minute heartbreak, 85th minute hope, 91st minute penalty nerves followed by elation. A proper bundle in the away end and hug whoever you can grab on to moment. Betsy’s two farewells: the goal at Tamworth, shaking the hand ...

Re: Players signed for next season

We’ve been fairly average since the Chesterfield away game which was over a year ago. Players like Browne can’t dine off the first 60/70% of that season forever. And Anderson can’t dine off the fact he was injured for the remaining 30/40% of that season forever either.

Imagine if the team with the league’s top scorer (McCallum) ended up getting relegated. Cant imagine that’s happened before in many leagues anywhere.

Re: Players signed for next season

We can probably afford to have 2 50/50 midfielders, like Anderson and Kellerman, as we certainly play better when either/both are in the team. Oyeleke has proved a risk too far. Robinson seems to prefer playing for someone else and hardly impressed when playing for us. Ince is an odd one, just does...

Re: Updated run ins

I can only assume that R&WA didn’t include Eastleigh when he did the original post cos they weren’t in it, although they certainly are now. I also missed a game for Wealdstone in my original post. They are also playing this Wednesday Yeah - I’ve always thought Eastleigh would be OK until last Satur...

Re: Do you enjoy football?

It’s only really enjoyable when the result matters. The season can drag a bit when we’ve been in mid table with nothing to play for. The end of the Dowse/Dyer/Sarll season when we lost at home to Kings Lynn and no one gave a shit was a prime example. One thing I’ve never got is ground hoppers or peo...

Re: Players signed for next season

Smith is a project, got in for the future, so assume he will only leave on loan (and one where he trains with Woking). Apparently Farnborough weren’t telling the whole truth about Pavey’s fee, and the quoted £30k is not at all factual. If you don’t take a risk on some players fitness records you wo...

Re: Injured players

I've worked with a few people who have done similar (the opposite as it was when they were close to being forced out) when they close to go off for months with 'mental health'. One of them even admitted it. As you say, it's almost impossible to prove. 'Impossible to prove'? It's not as if you can't...

Re: Injured players

I may have misinterpreted what you're saying here, but if a player genuinely has a mental health issue, why would that be less important than a hamstring injury? I think it may be alluding to former players who are rumoured to have claimed mental health issues that were cured by getting released to...

Re: Casey

Some of our injuries can be excused as unlucky eg Kellermann and Browne. A number we’ve had were easily foreseeable given the players’ history (Wakefield, Oyeleke, Grego-Cox, Wilkinson, Korboa). I highly doubt players don’t want to be playing, especially at this stage of the season when it’s ’contr...

Re: Match Thread Barnet H

Edwards had a decent debut then spent a couple of games avoiding challenges and playing lots of simple passes. He's now getting on the ball a lot more and has upped his workrate massively. His performance in midfield at Ebbsfleet was as anonymous as anyone I can remember. I thought very similar. I ...

Re: Players signed for next season

Keep: Moss, Walker, Kendall Realistic loan out: Robinson (if he agreed to be released from contract, he may have a taker), Pavey Probably stuck with: Ince, Grego-Cox, Smith Get rid: Browne Ideally we wouldn't have FOUR strikers signed on for next season already. Given a choice, I'd probably only kee...
