Best Miss You've Ever Seen

Not a post about the hockey girls again.

I've just seen Chelsea's goal against Real Madrid and it reminded me of Maurice Cox against Met Police, he had exactly the same scenario but headed it over the bar.

Then there is that Farnborough miss at Kingfield in the play off semi final in 2011.

Re: Your Personal Woking Hall of Fame

John Cassidy's 25 yarders.
Mark Dawber was quite a player. Didn't he get a good move but then did bugger all.
Maurice Cox was prolific before Buz.
Big D!
And some donkey called Youlton.
Andy Russell
George Friel
Then we became famous.

Re: Our worst run of form...ever?

The football was so crap in those days that we used to count the attendance, in fact the football was so crap in those days that we used to do it again in the second half! The crowd used to go up a fair bit by the second half with a combination of the odd person going through the un-attended turnst...

Re: Our worst run of form...ever?

Yep, not for 107 years though. In the 1913/14 season the Cremators finished bottom of the Isthmian League with three points from twenty games W1, D1 and L18 (F3, A61) with one run of TEN straight League defeats in there. But it was okay though, as you couldn’t be relegated from the Isthmian in thos...

May Day, May Day!

A very dark April ends with 1 point, The Cards in 20th place and bottom of the form table, below Dover. Saturday is a new month and there is a reason for optimism: Weymouth come to Kingfield and have never beaten Woking. Not even when we were in Division Two South and they were in the Alliance Prem....

Thanks Growler, this information makes clearer the ups and downs, actually some like 5 downs in a row, from Woking. Are we playing a team packed with Academics? It could be an idea for next year... Why not. However: COYC! Till the end and beyond! If it was filled with academics Growler & Glenn H wo...

Just forfeit the rest of the season. Pointless.
Speak for yourself, that's another 3/1 double with Stockport. Money for old rope!

I wish I'd put Hyde as first scorer too.

Re: Dowse and Rosemary's Catch-Up | Spring 2021

Appreciate the responses to my post. No offence taken. Slight hyperbole on my part perhaps. I guess your mileage may vary on exactly when our season became irrelevant. For me, I was similar to Stoo in thinking half-time on Boxing Day. At that point we had next to no chance of being top seven and th...

Re: Dowse and Rosemary's Catch-Up | Spring 2021

I've thought long and hard about this over the weekend. I've been one of our harsher critics, since Christmas. The capitulation in the first half at Aldershot was the catalyst. But I think circumstances are so different now. Every game is under scrutiny, television, replays etc. There's no normalit...

Well that was lucky :)
Free money for the bookies
The bookies have taken an absolute pasting. Kings Lynn, Weymouth, Woking & Wealdstone have all lost 4 of 5. Easy doubles.
They're catching on as the odds for Tuesday are rubbish.

They may think we shouldn't be run over by any team we play against but the reality is we most often are. Run over, run through, flattened or pulverised in midfield
What is this mid-field you speak of? I thought it became extinct years ago.

The new asbestos “bus stop” that we all knew and loved was a replacement from the early 70s, I've got the programme that explains the improvements at the time somewhere - from memory it was around 1973. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dj8Y-JcX0Accp0h?format=jpg&name=medium There is covered terracing me...

The bus stop end, 197? - 1995
The bus stop end was built at the same time as Moaners, it's mentioned in the programme in 1951. Nothing wrong with a bit of asbestos covering. Wasn't it all joined up when the tea bar was there?

If they do I'll be rich. 4 goal handicap 55/1; 5 goal handicap 150/1.
Torquay need 6 to go above Sutton so it was worth a punt.
The money will end up at the club.

This week's double is Maidenhead 13/10 & Torquay 20/23.
Torquay are 12/5 with a one goal handicap.

I did well on Wrexham & Sutton, win to nil singles, last week although Shots ballsed up my acca. Funny though.

Re: Easy money today

Sutton to win at Altrincham 8/7,
Aldershot to win at Barnet evs,
Wrexham to win 13/10.
That's a 10/1 treble to sweeten the mood.
