Re: Match Thread Braintree A

It wasn't really wing backs yesterday. Moss plays high when Will kicks it out, but he couldn't really do it in open play because Ward was wide in front of him. Similar on the left. It was such a flawed approach. I'll admit that Doyle's first game playing three at the back looked a shocker, with Case...

Re: Match Thread Braintree A

Didn't Kendall force their keeper into one save with a shot on the bounce from distance (on his left foot)?

Re: Match Thread Braintree A

Launching the ball up to Ward.. Who'd have thought that wouldn't work. Not a great first half.. Didn't see the second. For me the second was far better on my eyes... TBF - the diagonal ball from Harries was one thing that looked quite good. Harries looked our best player IMO. Today's formation just...

Up there with ramsgate and horsham
That's clearly bollocks.

I don't really get the formation - has playing with wing backs and wingers ever worked before? The gaps in midfield were painful. Felt bad for Ward - he really didn't convince at all.

Re: Match Thread Braintree A

Two teams playing for 0-0, they got what they wanted.

Really could do with playing with a midfield next time though.

Re: Alan Judge

We are crying out for a third midfielder today TBF. Would make us a little more unbalanced, with Beautyman, Anderson and Ward already able to do that. Adds to the multiple players who can play right or left wing back!

Re: Match Thread Braintree A

Weird half. When we can get the ball down, the front three look a threat and our back five seem to be doing well, but the two in midfield doesn't work. Gorman, set pieces aside, is a liability and Akinola doesn't have anyone to play the simple pass to. I'd look at swapping Wynter and Gorman. Go four...

Re: Match Thread Braintree A

S'pose you might be right but the way the press release was appointed it showed conte alongside Kendall. We shall see! Conte will definitely be wing back. Hopefully we will see more of a berkoe type wing back bombing forward. Looks like Andrews left wing back. We appear to be playing 5-2-3, with Wa...

With DKE in the team: zero points Without DKE in the team: maximum points. Has he played in the position that he played the bulk of his career? Wasn't he a right back or wing back? I liked DKE. Excellent without the ball, until he made that horrific challenge. I can forgive him a poor performance i...

Re: The back three/five

Are we all agreed now that our defence has some OK players, rather than being anything special?

If you can't keep a clean sheet with five at the back and playing two defenders as part of your midfield, the players might not actually be that great.

Re: Raheem Conte

Is he a left wing back?

Delighted if he turns out to be quality, but it means we've got Lewis and Jones gathering splinters for the season now (subject to injuries). Add in DKE, Moss and Wynter possibly playing second fiddle to Ward at right wing back and the recruitment strategy looks a bit dodgy.

So, do we see a redemption arc for Rohan this season? I know he blows hot and cold more than a broken hairdryer, has injuries and/or a mystery ear condition, but a fit Rohan Ince is ahead of Tunji every day of the week and twice on Saturdays. Seeing as we don't seem to be able to shift him, let's h...

Re: Match Thread Hartlepool H

Let's be clear, they ripped us an absolute new one until they gave us a man advantage - his first yellow was at least an orange, anyway. If that finished 11v11, they were winning that game 4-0. However... credit to Doyle, attacking subs, they played to protect their lead and failed. Their 23 was su...
