Re: Jake Hyde

I agree JAM. Would he be my first choice? No. Is he likely to be a contact in Dowse's phone and did he likely only go up north for the security of the contract and f/t football? Yes. Does he know where the net is? Yes. What exactly is the issue?! Growler's unfortunately the sort of person who rates ...

How anybody could possibly know at this moment whether we finish next season 14th it would be acceptable or not is anyone's guess...
No, it isn't. Katz said top-10.

You're doing the same rewriting of history you are accusing KE of.

The Aldershot part made me laugh and cringe in equal measure. He's been here 5 mins ffs. A little misguided IMO.
Reminded me of Dave Riche joining Farnborough and saying "Why would businesses spend their money at Woking when they could come here and spend it an ambitious club?"

Anyway to the original question - nothing will ever top Stower's missed open goal against the Canvey Island Supporter's Team around 2006ish. Ever.

Stockley's miss at 8:25 here is the worst I've seen. May generously say it bobbled.
Has that been edited? I thought it said Woking 2-0 Wrexham. We surely can't ever expect to compete with Wrexham...

Snozz in front of the KRE from about an inch out. Doylie, by that do you mean gary Abbott. I also thought it was at the Wreck, but maybe wrong If so, isnt that the miss which led to the famous 'you should have used your nose' song Was definitely at Kingfield in the 0-0 FA Trophy draw. I remember it...

Re: Your Personal Woking Hall of Fame

Some cult heroes of mine that I don't think have been mentioned but all brought me great joy Can a player be classified as a Cult Hero after only 1 appearance ? If they can, I give you Hans Segers I was thinking about him during the fanzine thread the other week. There was a great match report from...

Re: Your Personal Woking Hall of Fame

Woking Cardinal, can't forget Adie Cowler but does he get in my top ten ?, not quite. Nor did Gez but they'd certainly make the top 15 Would be interested to hear the views of some of those who have been here for 10 years or less Not sure Gez would make a top 20, I can't believe someone mentioned F...

Re: Dowse and Rosemary's Catch-Up | Spring 2021

You make no comment on the main subject I'm raising - do you want us to be a tight-lipped corporate, or an engaged community club? I want us to be a club who speaks when appropriate and whose manager doesn't say "It's not an excuse but here's a load of excuses about injuries at Hereford" IMO we are...

Re: Dowse and Rosemary's Catch-Up | Spring 2021

This is a slightly revisionist take on this season, perhaps... And I doubt it will be the last time in a lifetime. I can remember seasons where we knew from mid-late February onwards meant very little. Safe, but without much hope of playoffs (admittedly when it was only a top five, not seven.) Firs...

Here’s Para-man celebrating with Scott Canham at the Wreck, an honourable appearance from KN too. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DS5QxCJW0AEidua?format=jpg&name=4096x4096 Lost 2-1. I worked at a fish and chip shop on the outskirts of Aldershot at that time whilst at college. I did not enjoy the first ...

The 'Pitch Fund' game I think it was called Bot sure about the rules though No the pitch fund game was Weston-Super-Mare away on a Tuesday night. Rules: people gradually drop money on the pitch over the terrace* until someone decides there's too much value there to stay off the pitch. I think Lewis...

What we need is someone with IT smarts to create an online, £1 per month or similar online service akin to The Athletic. I'm sure Sicko could sort it.

Was "Vent Your Spleen" in one of the fanzines?

Re: Torquay Match Thread

Why is anyone surprised that we lost to a decent side with half our squad out injured and those who were available are not good enough? We weren't good enough 10 games ago. It's not going to change when inferior players are in there.

Fair play to those of you bothering to watch.

Farney = Mutley's Dog. It's always Farney. Certainly not me but this thread is exactly the point I’ve been trying to make in my rather obscure way. Things were always much nicer and fun back then. These are the characters we miss and brought variety and humour to these boards rather than the ‘must ...

I've been on Cardsweb/Cardsboard since the old Ant and Beck days of the late 90s. Great fun in those days, unfortunately not so these days with the usual four people arguing the toss amongst themselves, trying to get to last word in the oh yes it is - oh no it isn't Cardsboard Panto. Some genuine L...
