Re: Sam Allison

And why would they do this? "In October last year, TV presenter and campaigner June Sarpong was appointed as the BBC's director of creative diversity, as it pledged to ensure 50% of on-air roles will go to women by 2020, with targets of 15% for black, Asian and minority ethnic groups [BAME], 8% for...

Re: Sam Allison

Once again some posters are tarnishing others with relatively mild views on the subject. Are we all getting a bit too sensitive in this modern era? I have not seen anything on here that I would call 'depressing' other than the sniping between us, which quite frankly, most of us are guilty of. I sus...

Re: Sam Allison

What's the alternative? If the EFL set a target, or quota, to have just 1 black referee in the football league (out of 109), the thing we should be worried about is the fact they only had 1 to choose from. If we wanted the number of BAME referees to be truly representative to the BAME population of...

Re: Sam Allison

I'm only talking from experience, Being ex military where 'reverse discrimination' is most definitely a thing and is widely admitted, and would think is similar to most of the public sector. We also had huge number of unsuccessful BAME applicants for a role at my current work who were simply not ch...

Re: Macclesfield Town - Wound Up

In times like this I was enjoy seeing the reactions from ill educated people such as: "it's only 1 week's wages for Gareth Bale" Would this not be said to actually just be quite an intriguing point of reference to the literal amount being discussed, how much Macc owed and what Bale is supposedly ea...

I'll leave it up to everyone to decide if his promotion to the Football League was due to ability or other reasons.

In times like this I was enjoy seeing the reactions from ill educated people such as: "it's only 1 week's wages for Gareth Bale" "why don't City give them money?" "everything that's wrong with modern football". Even Lineker (someone who apparently knows how football and the free market works) said a...

Re: Formations for upcoming season... thoughts

I'm not sure we'll use 3-5-2 this season given we'll struggle to have enough CBs I'd like a 4-2-3-1 which seems to be Dowse's favourite, with something like: -------------Ross------------- ----------Any back 4---------- ------Block-----Ferdinand----- Tarpey----Goddard-----Jarvis ---------Hall/New Fw...

Cardsfan's favourite player, Charlie Penny, scored two for Epsom & Ewell.
Not seen many players more out of their depth at this level than Charlie Penny.

Re: Gulf between League 2 and National League

I think Harrogate will do fairly well this year given the financial backing they have. Interesting they managed to change their plastic pitch to grass with minimal fuss (unlike Sutton who kept whinging like they were guaranteed promotion). Barrow will probably struggle, especially as they’ve lost th...

Re: Tiresome charade.

They’re once a year though not every single week. Minutes silence and poppies aren’t political either. Next? How are poppies not political? Once a year every week for each thing. Next? So every week is the same as every year, good to know. Poppies are for remembrance of those who died in the war, n...

Re: Tiresome charade.

I go to a game of football for exactly that reason, NOT a for political statement, much as I wouldn't want a football match to break out at a political rally. So your ok with all the different minutes silence we have and the logos (poppy etc)on shirts but not with people taking a few seconds to tak...

Re: Tiresome charade.

I saw that attacks on police are up by 40% since lockdown. Would argue that BLM and racists such as David Lammy and Dawn Butler are indirectly responsible for the majority of this by stoking the fire. If anything they’ve set race relations back by about 50 years by trying to segregate everything by...

RWA, being anti racist does in no way condone anarchy and marxism.
In the same way as refusing to taking a knee in no way condones racism.

Re: Tiresome charade.

Ah the old “people being against the movement is why we need it” circular argument.

People are annoyed about BLM because it’s a political organisation which wants to defund the police as well as encouraging violence, rioting and the burning down of buildings.

Re: Tommy Block

Don't forget Tarpey as well, he's 31. If you go back to the Limbrick season I think Richard Orlu was the only player over the age of about 24. One of the reasons, IMO, why we couldn't pull ourselves out of trouble when the going got tough. I think the current squad is a real nice mix of youth and e...

Re: 2020/21 Fixtures Announcement

Apart from Altrincham away on a Tuesday and Weymouth to a lesser extent that's a fairly sensible fixture list. Can't wait! Someone has to go to Weymouth midweek. We will frequently be chosen as one of the closer teams to them. Which is why we almost always get chosen for Torquay mid week or bank ho...

Honestly, what's with the back biting? Pre season friendlies are always a bit of a mixed bag. It's the nature of the beast. I've paid full price and seen a team of triallists before. I've paid nothing and seen the first team. Where does this expectation come from? Maybe even entitlement? I don't gi...

I didn’t go so of course I have sympathy for those who “lost out”... But...I have 3 thoughts... 1 - You know it’s a PSF. Even in a good year it’s only a PSF. Even if we’d only had one game today it would only ever be “a WFC XI”. 2 - I think we need to be excited at the prospect of any football and ...
