Re: Our worst run of form...ever?

51 points from a 42 game season, it was unreal.

I still clearly remember standing in front of little office by the entrance to the bar waiting for ginger Derek to come out with all the results, could not believe all 4 had won.

Re: Your Personal Woking Hall of Fame

Couldn't really dispute that top 5, would probably be mine too. To think they all played in the same team, those late 80s early 90s days really were a golden era beyond belief compared to the early 80s that are being discussed in the other thread. Honourable mentions for Alan Morton, Scott Steele, S...

Re: Match Thread Weymouth

I'd like to see who we sign first!! Anything below 15th should probably mean a new manager, I'm guessing Dowse would walk anyway. So is Dowse now under more pressure than he (or other Nat League managers) would normally expect to be at 36 played with regard to the new season? If so, is this due to ...

Re: Match Thread Weymouth

I meant to the Times article. That one has his transfer fee from us to them at over 20 times what it actually was. Are you suggesting this is a credible source - or can we apply the same logic (meaning Forest paid £200K)? I'd assume the Times article has used TranferMarkt as it's source, it's not a...

With all due respect, it sounds like speculative bollocks.

Re: Match Thread Weymouth

£5m is being quoted on various websites....seems staggering if true, no idea if it is. Where? I’ve seen nothing. Would be great news if true, but I just can’t see them getting anything like that. Maybe three years ago. Not now. TranferMarkt has his fee to Forest as €5.5m which is probably starting ...

Re: Match Thread Weymouth

I guess thats an arguement that Dowse & Katz will have then, if the man putting the cash up says top 10, I'd probably keep quiet about 14/15th place.

Re: Match Thread Weymouth

We're not going to win a few, if any, games, the season is written off, its irrelevant now, has been since Hereford, bar a bit of experience for a few youngsters who may go on to better things. The budget excuse ends in 6 games time, Katz has said next seasons budget is built for top 10, maybe play-...

Re: Dowse and Rosemary's Catch-Up | Spring 2021

Appreciate the responses to my post. No offence taken. Slight hyperbole on my part perhaps. I guess your mileage may vary on exactly when our season became irrelevant. For me, I was similar to Stoo in thinking half-time on Boxing Day. At that point we had next to no chance of being top seven and th...

Re: Match Thread: Woking v Maidenhead United

Maybe they want to live in France? Its very nice here!! To be honest I've always wondered why Moussa is plying his trade over here. It's not as if he's earning loads of money, so he can't be sending much money home. I'd have thought he could earn a similar amount in France and not have an extra hou...

I hope going back to France will do Moussa the world of good. Not seeing your wife and child for a year, well I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I wonder why they all can't live here?

Re: Dowse and Rosemary's Catch-Up | Spring 2021

I assume the club will advise us of the budget for next season I hope they don't, and very much doubt they will. Whilst it will become public knowledge when the accounts are issued, its not really going to help Dowse in any contract negotiations with potential players if they know exactly what he h...

Re: Moaners' Corner badges

Wasn't the concrete and asbestos 'bus stop' cover an early 70's upgrade on the previous roof?

Before my time (and yours!), but the terracing and tea bar could well have been from the 50s, as were some of the products sold there.

Gotta question that Paul, I can well believe you first gave it printed publicity through your fanzine but I'd be pretty sure it was known as moaners well before then. I can distinctly remember in the early 80s Andy 'coaches' Repton's uncle, (who's first name escapes me) claiming the small group he ...

And nobody should ever forget the legend that was George Ridgeway, what a great bloke. The sort of fella that deserves a plaque in the bar. George had one of the driest wits I've known. Spent many hours laughing with George over a beer or several. One of many who are sadly no longer with us. Yep, t...
