Just seem that, and also thought it was interesting that it was being held at the Woking CC at 2pm.

Sounds like they are highly organised ... DOH
The petition attracted 558 signatures within a month – surpassing the 400 required for it to be listened to by the council. They had reached 750 signatures on a previous petition, but as it was not hosted on the council’s website it would not be recognised by the authority, meaning the group had to start again.

It's just another example of extreme density...

The group accepts something will happen on the site, but says the current proposals are excessive and not in keeping with the neighbourhood.

Very much this as far as I'm concerned. Coupled with the acceptance* of massive high rise in the centre would mean no high rise out of the centre.

*I would say promise but it is politicians and clearly with the WFC proposal they were words in the wind.

I realise that we had a game at home, but did anyone go along, or no anyone that went, and if so any idea on how it went

If you go to their website they have a write up of the meeting along with action plan of sorts. Nothing surprising really.

Looks like a Brexit Party meeting! Is anyone there under the age of 70?!

"We are most grateful to those who attended our meeting this Saturday, especially with it clashing with a Woking FC home game..."...yes, very clever, well done.

"It was clear that there there was no great opposition to the plans to improve and develop Woking FC as a community asset..."...no great opposition, but some, and no support?

"Andy encouraged those present to support Woking FC by joining the Cards Trust."...again, very clever, although the traditional way of showing support for football teams is by going to watch them play.

According to Wikipedia, "In conflict theory, passive-aggressive behavior...consists of deliberate, active, but carefully veiled hostile acts..."

Really quite bizarre timing. How do you get a proper community perspective to present to the mp and councillors by timing the meeting then. Sure they can see through that.

Yes the supporters trust is for football club supporters

Loads of their original output was dodgy too - implying there was a bungalow backing onto a ten story block of flats at one point, they removed all of the trees from the images and also amended the FC design to be a blank block, rather than something that actually looked quite nice.

Whilst they might create some compromises, some of their motivation isn’t appropriate. One of them on Twitter got into an argument about it with me and his main motivation was preventing people relocating to Kingfield from Sheerwater, as he felt there would be a surge in crime. When I explained that the target resident was an affluent commuter, he couldn’t come up with a counter aside from “I don’t want it”.
Scorer of possibly the greatest goal in the history of the Woking FC Supporters' team

"most residents who attended lived 10-15 minutes walk away" so not that local then and unlikely to directly affect them..............
