Donnellan

Post by PatsWFC » Fri Jul 24, 2020 10:06 pm

Just announced on Twitter he won’t be signing for us next year.

Wish him well but no great loss at all in my view, he was ‘ok’ I guess.

Wouldn't be too fussed had we resigned Donnellan or not. He was good at the start of the season but faded. A squad player imho..

It's Maidenhead.

How on earth are they dishing out 2 year deals?

That is quite ridiculous from them. If they have restricted capacity how do they afford this

Go on their website and look at the sponsors and commercial entities wanting to be a part of their club. Amazing what happens locally when you pick the phone up or go and see people

You’re quite clearly not a Woking fan, so if you could stop the obsession SouthStandSteve that would be much appreciated

He posts as redandbluescb on the Administrationpop forum. I enjoy a good troll, they can be quite amusing at times with a clever use of humour, I keep waiting for him to up his game to make some sort of sense out of his purpose, but he disappoints - every - single - time.

I’ve been visiting this forum (and its predecessors) for over twenty years now, and he’s quite simply the most pointless, tedious entity that’s ever bothered to register, and I include Hot and Sweaty and greaser in that.

Good luck to Donnellan. Had a decent season and after having to go on trial last season, most players would take the security of a two year deal when offered now.

Absolutely, he’s been offered two years work when many are gonna lose their jobs, no brainer, even if we’d offered him another year.

No such thing as security at this level is there in these times? They are offering more wages than us, simple.

Are Maidenhead better run than us? They clearly have less match day revenue, or are they taking a risk, calculated or not?

Not fussed about Donellan or Parry, but if you were Dowse and you'd offered Donellan a contract and it had been turned down in favour of Maidenhead, you would be annoyed.

He’s got a two year contract, when many are gonna lose their job.

We don’t know if it was at a higher rate of pay, but two years instead of one he would have got here.

What don’t you understand?

you have no idea as to the terms of his contract. You can only speculate - as can I. He could have guaranteed payments and a weekly bonus built in for all we know. A two year contract likely has to offer some form of security / earnings protection.

Our contracts do not offer payment protection as such, particularly against a second wave for example. Dowse admitted.

Are Maidenhead offering payment security? None of us know, that is true, I concede! A 2 year contract in these uncertain times is not as attractive as you would think if Maidenhead are smart. More money per week, must be. If Maidenhead are offering some form of protection, well we need to find out what they are doing right that we are not.

Many posters believe other clubs are offering contracts they have no idea they can fulfill.

Look, I think we can do better than Donellan on the supposedly worst budget in the league. Just speculating.

Owing to the fact no one knows when the season will start, if fans will be allowed or behind closed doors and for how long.
How do you expect any club to make a determination on a playing budget, unless they have a wealthy donor or are taking a guess educated/shot in the dark/hoping fingers crossed, I’d prefer we wait till we can set a sustainable budget and not risk going tits up

Yes and no. Clubs will be doing all sorts of forecasts. Worst and best case scenarios.

Time will tell. In Dowse we trust.

How can you decide on season ticket price when you don’t even know if fans are allowed or how many or if it starts behind closed doors ?
