Play Offs

Post by JAM » Tue Jul 14, 2020 12:04 pm

so this weekend is the start of the Play offs.

In our league, who do we want to go up (or stay down)

Friday - B.Wood v Halifax - winner to play Harrogate away
Saturday - Yeovil v Barnet - winner to play Notts County away

In the North

Sunday
Altrincham v Chester - winner to play York away
Brackley v Gateshead - winner to play Boston away

In the South

Sunday
Slough v Dartford - winner to play Havant away
Bath v Dorking - winner to play Weymouth away

finals in the North & South to be played on 1st August. Final in our league to be played 2nd August

for me, I want Notts County to go up, as I think if they dont they will walk the league next year. In the North, Brackley as its the closest, and in the South Weymouth or Bath as good days out

Whilst I would like to get rid of Bwood the league will end promotion if we send them to tinpot dumps like that.
So get rid of Barnet instead. It’s close but an utterly joyless trip.
Get Alty back as they are old school like us.
Weymouth from the South as it’s a great place. Then Bath. Then Dorking despite them being the new Staines.
But please god don’t let Dartford back. Awful club, awful away trip, worst ever drummer.

BWood have to go. The fact they could play league football next season would be hilarious. Failing that Harrogate or Halifax to get rid of a northern hole. County and Yeovil haven't served their time yet, Barnet are just a bunch of c***s so they can stay here too.

Brackley up from the north, Weymouth up from the south please.

Agreed on Harrogate. In an ideal world, we should swap it for Aldershot, which doesn’t really belong in the south.

Harrogate and Halifax couldn’t be any different IMO, aside from both being in Yorkshire.

Notts County to stay please. Would like to do it all again without the stupidly long train journey there and back due to the "storm"..

NLP - Boreham Wood or Yeovil to go
NLN - Boston
NLS - Anyone but bloody Dartford and would be funny to see Steve King's face when they miss out again!!

Borehamwood for the laugh, never want a BELT to go up.

North, Brackley, need the ground
South, As long as it’s not Dartford, not bothered as the others are easy journeys from my neck of the woods

Good assessment. Just about right I think.

Boreham Wood should be got rid of, full stop. As much as would like to get rid of Barnet (horrible and nasty club to supporters and players alike) I wouldn't want to reward them with promotion. Harrogate is definitely not a hole, a beautiful town and I haven't seen Woking play there so not them. Halifax Town and Notts County are great away trips so it's Yeovil Town for me, a shithole of a town and the ground is in the middle of nowhere.

My preference from the North is York City, just because it's York (and they'll have a new ground to visit next season). After this Boston (another new ground to visit) followed by Chester, Alty and Gateshead as they are all good away days. Although I've not seen Woking at Brackley Town it's a shithole and difficult to get to so no thanks.

From the South Bath City is my preferred choice, then Weymouth. Dorking is local but will be another 3G pitch to play on, as does Slough Town if they come up. Havant are laying a 3G pitch so potentially half of the promotion hopefuls will provide us with another 3G nightmare. Dartford, just no.

So that’s Boreham Wood and Barnet in to the semis.

Imagine if the 11th placed team went up. It’s a big enough joke extended playoffs to 7th as it is.

Might as well just do away with the league season and invite all 24 teams in to the playoffs.

I would like York to come up as I've never been and are they in their new ground next season?

From the south anyone but Dartford, Weymouth would be nice or Dorking for another close away game

Dorking?, er no. The last thing we need is more bankrolled clubs playing on plastic.

Weymouth please

Had forgotten about their pitch! So really we want Harrogate to bugger off and H&W to not win promotion either.

H&W are planning some serious spending once they get plastic down. Sutton Utd mk2. Same manager and same strategy

I think Boston should be in their new ground for next season as well so York first with Boston United second to come up from the North.

My first choice from the South got knocked out so it's my second choice now, Weymouth.

Phew. Dorking out and Weymouth through to play Dartford in the final.
Dorking 2-0 down at half time to pull it back to 2-2 in the 86 min.
Weymouth scored in TAO.

Please not Dartford.

Also - how many seasons have Brackley lost in the playoffs now? They might even be bigger bottlers than Chelmsford.

I quite agree re Dartford. Although I haven’t seen them play the last season you just know what their game play will be.
