Superb news.

Add Ross, Diarra, Cook & Poku and we’ve got a great base to build from!

Not sure there's anyone in the National League with anything like the career that Matt Jarvis has. This is amazing news.

There arent many advantages of being part-time but this is one of them. Hoping more players come out of the pro game and see us as an attractive option to play at a good level

This is unbelievably fantastic news.

Watching Matt Jarvis play for us, however briefly, last season was one of my highlights and I am so excited at the prospect of watching him again next season. I would fill the team with wingers if I could, and he’s one of the best. Absolutely tremendous.

Could do with this prompting a £5M bid now

Yeah, no-one is paying £10m for a 30 year old with 1 year left on his unfortunately.

It does say on Fulham's website that it was a 1 year loan 'with the option to make the move permanent'.

If Fulham don't go up through the playoffs it may well happen - I assume Bournemouth will be happy to get rid seeing as they've been loaning him out for 2 years.

Basically we needed him to be managed by a manager who liked a brown paper bag or two and who took personal interest in getting through as many transfers as they could reasonably hide.

Sadly we got the “Steady hand at the tiller“ and the player’s brother-in-law rather than a George Graham type :-(

I thought the terms of the loan deal between Bournemouth and Fulham last summer were that, if Fulham achieve promotion this season, then they were obligated to buy Arter? That means that any fee would have been fixed last summer (when Arter was a proven Premier League player and still had two years left on his Bournemouth contract) rather than negotiated now.

Of course, if Fulham don't go up, then all that becomes irrelevant.

proven but unwanted premier league player. He barely played for bournemouth since 2017 and went to cardiff who got relegated. They never offered to take him off Bournemouths hands. Hopefully Parker will want him given the relationship but doubt it would be more than amill and in any case Howe might need him in the championship which is his level now

Arter pretty openly wants to go and thinks Bournemouth want to let him go. '“My goal at the start of the season was to get promoted with Fulham, and stay there,” he says. “For Bournemouth and for myself, the best outcome would be that I do sign for Fulham."' Source

If he did go, it would be for a relatively token fee of £2-3m I reckon. 15% of that is what, 300-450k? Not quite what we could've had but it's pretty huge at the same time - we've made annual losses of less.

Isn't that roughly equivalent to our annual player salary budget? I could be way off.

Why would you think 2-3 mill...any team that takes him and pays a fee say its Fulham would have to give him maybe 3 years at say 20-25k a week over three years . thats 1.5 mil plus the tfr fee plus agents and signing on n with no resale value cant imagine he would command more than a million. Still its all about opinions

I'm not the best with figures by a long stretch, but I'm under the general impression we run a total loss of about 200-300k a year that used to be covered for us by the powers that be? Hopefully people better informed than myself can chime in on that.

Just looking at fairly similar deals - players in that age bracket, with a year left on their deal, moving from Premiership clubs to Championship clubs.

Arter's 30. This season, Charlie Austin (31) cost West Brom £3.8m with a year left on his deal. Nahki Wells (30) cost Bristol City £5m with six months left on his deal. Carl Jenkinson (28) cost Nottingham Forest £1.8m, even as a massive fitness risk with a year left on his deal.

The season before that, Stoke paid £5m for a 29 year old James McClean with a year left. Bournemouth themselves made Forest stump up £6m for an out of favour, previously loaned, 30-year-old Lewis Grabban with a year left.

It's not definite, I may well be wrong. Arter seems to have a brilliant relationship with both Howe and Parker and if Bournemouth want him to go, they may well make it easy - and the article seems to suggest that a move is dependent on Fulham's promotion anyhow. But if he did go, I'd be disappointed with a fee of less than £2m.
