Chaplaincy support in the coming months

Post by Nico » Tue Mar 17, 2020 1:28 pm

It really feels like we are stepping into the unknown and I have noticed a lot of concerned questions in different forums .

First and foremost the club is a family and I wanted to offer support; my mobile is 07976351891 and email is chaplain@wokingfc.co.uk

>> If you would like prayer for a specific issue do email me ( or phone if its urgent). My prayers aren't necessarily any more effective than yours but I know it can mean a lot to know others are supporting you. ( Please don't make this thread a discussion on prayer and why people pray!!)

>> If you simply want someone to chat to about concerns you can again email or phone if its urgent

>> For those who have practical needs, or have relatives with practical needs you may well have a community whatsapp or other support network set up already. If not most local churches are setting up support networks for people in the community. If you are not sure who to approach do contact me

>> Finally churches will not be meeting physically in large groups in the coming weeks and months. I am sure there will be lots of creative ideas. You are welcome to look at my church www.emmausrd.com which will be streaming simple services and prayer opportunities on Sunday mornings and during the week - you just have to make your own coffee and I promise there will be no collection taken!

Whatever your background or beliefs we are all going to need to support others and be supported in this next while

Thank you Ian. I'm sure this will be appreciated by many people. Even for those not of faith, the sentiment is valued and welcomed.

Can you ask God why he invested this virus?, is he cross ?

If you can't get hold of him then ask Dereck Brown, he'll know

To be honest, as I said, I didn’t post this for discussion or debate. Start your own thread for that... it’s communication at a time many people will be struggling

Thank you Ian - this is why clubs like Woking are perhaps more important than larger but less personal "big boys."

I would just like to add to Ian's words.
I will still be working at the local CAB and am aware many people may have concerns over benefits and work issues.
If you have such problems and I can help then I am sure Ian won't mind if you email me on the address he gave out and he will pass any queries onto me. I am sure we can all pull together and support each other. Keep safe.

Specialist support to the club or to the community in general?
