Why 3rd April - predicted peak isn’t til after then is it?
Just void the season now and let the clubs get on with slashing costs for self preservation

Agreed. If its suspended until July/August could we release players now, as they're our biggest expenditure? If not, how long can the club last?

Just sack off the Trophy/Vase/FA Cup for next season.

Finish the remaining 8 games of this season upon resumption (as long as it’s before September, say) and go straight in to the next one after.

Can we really afford to lose 4 matches worth of income?

Starting the next season straight after is all well and good if you want those hamstrings to go in the first month of 20-21.
The physical demands are such, and especially with part-timers, that fatigue will lead to injury.
You might counter they're getting a rest now, but take the example of Nordic Leagues.
They play in the summer and get a winter rest - that won't happen in the National League.

Can't see how it would affect the players.

That would make it a 54 match season without cup fixtures.

They were already on for a 52 match season, without winning a Trophy nor a FA Cup match.

BUT you're making it continuous unless, as you say, you abandon, all cup games. Streams of revenue, and all that.
BTW, how do you get rid of the players you were going to jettison this season and sign new ones in the time frame allowed?
Are you stuck with the failures? Hmm....

I think all English football leagues from the Premiership to the National League are hoping they can complete the season in late May and June. Next season would then start later.

The Euro cancellation makes that even more of a possibility. The reality is however no one can properly plan for this and we won’t know if that is really possible until late April / early May.

Sad and strange times

Some of the ST money should cover some of the running costs. And all the stuff announced by the Chancellor yesterday should help??
Would we get told if the non-contract players were released - that would be a sign things are tight?

TBF, the club held back some of last season’s profits, so we are probably safer than most. As I understand it, that was meant to assist in the two seasons when we were playing away from Kingfield, but it might be needed sooner.

I hope all clubs survive. Surely now is the time for the super, super rich premier league players to share some of their wealth to help others. Unfair?

Absolutely. There should be a buddy system but it won’t happen. The Glazers could’ve saved Bury with spare change they hadn’t realised was rattling around in the bottom drawer but they couldn’t give a shit.

The difficulty here is that the Football League and the National League don't protect clubs from owners who shouldn't be anywhere near a football club.

If you'd had a multi-billionaire guarantor supporting Blackpool, you'd still have convicted rapist Owen Oyston at the top table, as the fan protest to get him out of the club wouldn't have made any impact on the club's finances. Bolton's owners would have been able to hold the club to permanent ransom. Nobody wants any club to die, but if you put up a safety net to keep clubs alive, many would end up on near-permanent life support.

TBF the NL hasn't been mentioned in that statement today (unless I have missed something) but it wouldn't surprise me if they followed suit

If, if, if things recommence by the end of May and let’s sincerely hope so then if we play three games a week for the run in this is what it could look like;

Saturday 30th May Aldershot (a)
Tuesday 2nd June Chesterfield h)
Saturday 6th June Harrogate (a)
Tuesday 9th June Dover (h)
Saturday 13th June Solihull (a)
Tuesday 16th June Flyde (h)
Saturday 20th June Barrow (a)

Season 2020-21 restarts in early October and runs until the end of May. No Surrey senior cup or Trophy and compensation paid to the sponsors. More midweek games. No international breaks (hurrah).

I can’t wait for the season to restart 👍
