I think Dowse has played this perfectly. There’s an offer there, which IIRC leaves us entitled to compensation if he goes elsewhere. It’s win-win for us. We either end up with a fee for a peripheral talent or we keep him and can send him out on loan (with the other club paying his wages) if we end up with superior players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Win win for his agent also....

Looks like Reggie was offered a contract but decided to go elsewhere. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up in the end.

Not if he stays with us. We are only obliged to match last year’s package for us to be entitled to a fee. If he goes elsewhere, I imagine the club will pay him and his agent less because they have to pay a fee to us!

What sort of compensation would we be looking at if he went to an Isthmian or Southern league club?
Presumably moderate/zero. I can’t imagine too many step 3 clubs are in the position to pay any sort of fee?
So unless he rocks up at Dorking, or the speculative interest from QPR & Gillingham turns out to be genuine I can’t imagine it would amount to anything more than a sell on clause

I imagine you’ll find that he’s trialling at bigger clubs than Woking, not smaller.

How likely are they to be followed by contract offers?

During Pre-season clubs must be flooded with trialists who might participate in a low profile friendly here or there.

Liam Marum had trials at a host of league clubs before eventually signing for Margate.

Not very - which is why i imagine he’ll end up back here with his tail between his legs.

Good luck to him. If he gets a contract at a bigger club then fine. I'd have him on our books but as many have said he wouldn't necessarily start or be in match day squad so a loan to NLS would seem appropriate.

The Football League Zone doesn’t look like the most credible of sources. I imagine Reggie’s agent is doing everything possible to prevent him coming back here.

Remember when he was linked to QPR and Brentford in February through similarly unreputable sources and nothing happened then either?

Agreed - but let’s make sure we make some money out of his move first!

Probably got the same agent as Ollie Palmer.

We had a similar situation with another academy player a few seasons back. Now currently playing for the mighty Harlow

I always thought Ollie Palmer and Liam Marum were poor but they seemed to keep getting new clubs and league football for Palmer!

Even Jack King got a league move and he looked very ordinary and by no means a stand out player in the side he played in

So two players go on to make good solid league careers for themselves yet according to you they were ‘poor’ and ‘very ordinary’ ?

You might need to review your willingness to comment on this forum and on football in general, as you’re embarrassing yourself.
