Stewards today

Post by Red and White Army » Sat Mar 23, 2024 10:07 pm

What was wrong with them? Were they just warming up for an evening shift at the clubs trying to kick as many people out as possible?

Also - what do the police at football grounds actually offer these days? Filming people from a distance to pretend they’re busy. Like they did at Aldershot on Boxing Day - watching people throwing coins while standing 50 feet away filming on a 1990’s camcorder leaving the stewards to stand inbetween everyone. Waste of space.

I found it quite interesting that the stewards were all but dragging people out.

What authority do they have to lay a hand on someone?

Like you say, police doing nothing while some little hitler in a high viz plays bully.

What were they even getting chucked out for? Couldn’t see anything particularly nasty going on

Football policing is one of the biggest scandals going, huge waste of resources and majority of the time spark trouble themselves by creating barriers and issues.

Stewards physically removing kids is laughable, loads of other grounds manage the 90 without any issue and it’s the same fans!

How many Woking fans were there? Seemed quite a few but spaced out.
Was somewhat breezy on the pier!

We've just watched a blog on the game from a Southend fan. Why were so many people thrown out?

I’m also interested in what the stewards’ gripe was. Several of them did look a bit ‘you must respect my authority’, the beard with backward baseball cap whiffs a lot of wannabe tough guy, and another had a massive pout on when a grown up* inevitably told them to back off right out the away end and stop causing a confrontation.
The kids being thrown out seemed the boisterous gang rather than trouble makers

* by grown up I mean their boss, and obviously not the bellowing gobshite going down to offer a full and Frank appraisal of their behaviour.

The stewards today were playing war games, kept rotating every 5 mins as though it was one great big fucking mission to keep a bunch of teenagers under control. All padded up, one had like protection on his back that moterbike racers have. They blew it all up by roughly man handling boys out the crowd & marching them out. it was embarrasing for them, they even slung a fan out for calling one of the security Gareth Bale, they claimed it was rascism,

They only did it cos it was teenagers. Can you imagine it if they tried that against a Millwall type adults? Would have probably caused a riot. It's like when 5 bouncers think they're hard because they throw punches at one 10 stone drunk guy who can barely stand up.

My favourite was the bearded twat mock singing along with "if you wear a yellow jacket you're a c***" pretending he DEFINITELY wasn't annoyed.

When I asked why they had closed the gate, blocking the pathway that has been used for the last four years to exit the ground, the reply from these “Stewards” was;

“Because we fucking can”

Interesting take on customer care…..
Looking forward to see everyone again at Kingfield, soon.
Some interesting conversations will be had.

is there any news as to why the stewards on Saturday were so heavy handed.

do the club get notified of the Woking fans that were ejected from the ground, and the reasons why. If so, and presuming the reasons were petty, are the club going to take it any further with Southend

Doubt the club can do much. No doubt the fans chucked out breached ground regulations, no matter how trivial they are. It was brainless stewarding and caused more issues than it solved but they can sling you out for standing on a seat or swearing if they like.

I've seen stewards on the KRE threaten to kick fans out for swearing this season, it happens.

You're on private property, they can remove you for farting if they so wish.
