Woking Supporters Team

Post by EliotFrilli » Sat Jul 06, 2019 8:22 pm

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if there is a Woking Supporters Football Team. If not it would be great if we could set one up.

Games would be Saturday mornings in the IFA League (Internet Football Association) playing against supporters teams of Wokings opponent that same day.

Any Age and ability it would be just about having a laugh.

Let me know if it may be worth setting up

There used to be a supporters team (the good old days) when we first went into the conference.

It used to be brilliant as the supporters team had to be at the away fixture early for the match leaving those who were on “the early coach” plenty of drinking time rather than turn up 30/20mins before k/o on the normal coach.

What years are you talking? Do you think it’s worth doing it again?

It was back in the 90’s and it was great fun.

There is still a full kit for the supporters team that is currently stored in The Cards Trust office.

The team fell away with the National League becoming too "northern based" and a very ageing squad....

as mentioned above it was early nineties- when there were actually 2 supporters coaches at most away matches....one for the supporters team (and p*ss heads) the other for tea drinkers ;) The timings of coaches could make it logistically difficult to get a supporters team to away matches early enough to play.

Sounds brilliant! Myself and a few of the lads would be interested in playing if this starts to gain traction count us in

Speak for yourself, I'm now entering my peak years!

For those thinking of getting a team going again, it was good fun and a great chance to meet and socialise with opposition fans. Hospitality would often be returned in the opposite fixture

This is a great idea. I’d love to get stuck in although am balancing supporting and youth coaching this season so my commitment may be limited.

Problem is I am untapped potential personified & if Dowse saw me play there would be an inevitable offer to play in the first team. Then I would have to choose between football & my current career.

I was told by a barman the other week that DavetheBountyHunter is a goal machine, worth giving him a trial in the supporters’ team.

Dowse commented on my goal keeping at the Cardinal Gold Cup and was impressed how quick I managed to get down to the low shots.
To be fair gravity had an awful lot to do with that and the getting down wasn’t the problem. It was fitting the handles to the goal posts so I could haul myself back up that was.

KE for manager.

About once a week my kids and me recreate it like a scene from Phoenix from the Flames. It was a SPECIAL goal.
Scorer of possibly the greatest goal in the history of the Woking FC Supporters' team

DTBH could still be worth of an invite as per his own confession:

Scorer of possibly the greatest goal in the history of the Woking FC Supporters' team.

Dave show them what you're up to!

I need to change that quote. The word possibly doesn’t need to be included.

I remember the very 1st one Yeovil away the team had a solid back line

Vicos in goal
Blairo and whittle centre backs
Walsh in the middle
Roving reporter up top

Growler and Benny could have even had a start It certainly wasn’t a team of shrinking violets
