Re: Dorking

I would be sad to see Dorking go down. I've enjoyed our games over the last two seasons, it's a very pleasant place to go for an away day and it's nice to have a local rival that isn't the caravanning enthusiasts over the border.

Rather them than us though...but I suspect it won't come to that now.

Re: Westfield Avenue 'compound' planning application

Thinking out loud here....Nobody (to my knowledge) has ever suggested redeveloping the KRE/the main entrance corner in a world where the snooker club no longer exists/joins in. Is there a reason for that? Surely Woking Snooker Club would be open to selling up/being part of the redevelopment at some ...

Re: Do you enjoy football?

Some lovely endorphin releasing content in here. At the risk of turning into "Ron Manager" from the Fast Show...here goes... I think it goes so far beyond a 90 (or 100) minute game of football. Often (as true at our level as at World Cup finals) the sport itself can be a dull watch. Not much happens...

Re: Westfield Avenue 'compound' planning application

The idea that you can move in next to a football stadium or pub/nightclub (see 'The Star Inn, Guildford') and start dictating what that business can and cannot do -despite the fact they were there decades if not centuries before you- is utterly baffling to me. Woking is already overpopulated and has...

Re: Updated run ins

So is it the case that fans need to have a bit of humility, or have the knee-jerkers actually been proved right because the management have changed their approach and we're now two wins from safety? My view on MD, from the beginning, has been that the only criteria by which he can and should be jud...

Re: Match Thread Barnet H

Not quite sure how Barnet are where they are in the league. They looked set up to snatch a point at best and looked incredibly limited. This was the only negative today for me. It really showed what a lost opportunity this season has been. It was actually a very good season to have as the third sea...

Re: Match Thread Barnet H

Amazing win but the takeaway for me was how awful the officiating was. Lino on moaner's side didn't seem to want to use his flag. Was convinced a Barnet pen was on the way (or a Woking red). Worst I've seen in some time and that's saying something. HUGE credit to the lads for plugging away and going...

Re: Updated run ins

I would hope that we go into our last two games, York A and Fylde H, well clear of the woods. Maidenhead and Wealdstone -I think- are the likeliest to drop in but we'll see. Kiddy could be in big trouble after the Easter double. Still too many variables for me but I fancy our chances a helluva lot m...

Re: Match Thread Rochdale A

Having a few moments spare, I’ve just looked back at the live stream. 3 major calls that I can see the ref got badly wrong. A minute or two before DKE’s red, their nine went in two feet high, very dangerous and with clear intent, and didn’t even get booked. DKE’s tackle was hard but he was in contr...

Re: Match Thread Kidderminster H H

It's almost like rope-a-dope football. At 1-0 down I felt we were doing enough to score but history tells us that -until recently- goals haven't been our strong point. Luker as impact sub is the way forward. Could and should have been victory by a higher margin but for some amazing goalkeeping and t...

Re: Bizarre league table

I've been saying for weeks it's no bad thing that the teams around us have started pulling away as it drags plenty of others into the mire. And so it has proven true. It was irrelevant until we started winning games and finding points which we now have. I could see a scenario where we're looking UP ...

Re: Tuesday thoughts & MDs Record so far

I think it's a bit disingenuous to say defeat tomorrow night and the fat lady sings. I admit, it will make the job a lot more tricky but it's far from over. If we can't beat Wealdstone at home on Saturday then frankly we don't deserve to stay up. On the same day, Dorking and Ebbsfleet face each othe...

Re: Tuesday thoughts & MDs Record so far

I don't know if I buy into this "it was the bit between managers that cost us" narrative, if indeed we do end up going down (which I don't believe we will.) Without wishing to be accused of re-writing history, the only two league fixtures we realistically could have won betwix Sarll and Doyle -as I ...

Re: Tuesday thoughts & MDs Record so far

You're underselling the general feeling after Ramsgate and then Oxford. We were getting humped. It was awful and something had to change. Sarll 22-23 Vs 23-24 saw a nosedive in talent that I've rarely seen before. The investors had more than a case to sack Sarll when they did. My argument is they d...

Re: Ex-Player update: May 2022

Effiong is another one of those players that seemed to go sour for us- or at the very least divided opinion towards the end- but then has done a decent job elsewhere. No doubt whatsoever that Ince will come back and haunt us if those Aldershot rumours (which to the best of my knowledge have yet to b...

Agree. Had his moments but it never really happened for him, did it.
