Re: Update for fans

Nice to see the owners of bankrolled projects like south Shields and jersey Bulls are having a good cry about it Unlucky Very unlucky. All the more so if people have invested in the club and thought they reaped rewards. There's a bit of the cynical me wondering whether non-league thinks it can run ...

Re: 'National League vote to immediately end season due to coronavirus crisis'

What may decide it is when clubs say they are in danger of folding without help or an immediate end. How many in the National League can afford to plod on paying wages and overheads for three months without a bean coming in by way of gate money, and attendant revenues? You can't have a league withou...

Re: Steps 5 and 6 to end immediately

Finish the season in June and July before we all get locked down during the second wave of the virus. Can't see how that would work if you're predicting a second wave. Up to 4,000 souls at games would have an even better chance of contracting the virus if it isn't finished yet, as you suggest. Behi...

Re: Steps 5 and 6 to end immediately

The update is: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52026302
But it seems steps 7&8 will be allowed to call it quits, with the fall-out to come later.
Nothing decided at 5&6, but can't see how one half on non-league will be allowed to abandon, and not the other.

Re: National league suspended

Can't see how it would affect the players. That would make it a 54 match season without cup fixtures. They were already on for a 52 match season, without winning a Trophy nor a FA Cup match. BUT you're making it continuous unless, as you say, you abandon, all cup games. Streams of revenue, and all ...

Re: Statement from Woking Football Club

Official statement from Dagenham which contradicts what we put on our website: https://daggers.co.uk/news/-M2ZB1CljMylP4w9q_Wp If the Dagenham statement is true, then why couldn't our Saturday statement announcing the postponement of the game mention that it was due to a couple of Dagenham players ...

Re: If the season ends now

If the season ends now, I doubt the current table will stand.
Think promotion/relegation. Imagine clubs demoted with nine or more games to save themselves.
Chances are if it does end, everything will be null and void, and the same 24 start 20/21.

Re: National league suspended

Just sack off the Trophy/Vase/FA Cup for next season. Finish the remaining 8 games of this season upon resumption (as long as it’s before September, say) and go straight in to the next one after. Can we really afford to lose 4 matches worth of income? Starting the next season straight after is all ...

Re: Statement from Woking Football Club

Re: our official statement.
Dagenham let the club know at 10.45am or was it the League? The wording is confusing.
That really tells you how spineless D&R think the League is if they let us know first - and a damn sight earlier than four hours prior to kick-off would have been welcome!

Re: Statement from Woking Football Club

Someone has alluded to it elsewhere, but if clubs called off games unilaterally, aren't they open to sanction? Am assuming all will be let off in the circumstances, but the NL come out of this badly. Ben Strevens (Eastleigh manager) sat next to the Harrogate manager at a game last week, Four of Harr...

Re: Club Statement: Woking vs. Dagenham & Redbridge

Disappointing as it was for all of us for such a late postponement we simply cannot say things on the basis of rumour, social media or one individual. I have already heard 2 or 3 different versions. We will take our time, talk to the relevant authorities and parties so that whatever can be said off...

Re: Club Statement: Woking vs. Dagenham & Redbridge

I’d like a proper explanation of what happened. I’d already spent over £25 on a train ticket and set off for the game before the news came through. When did the Club first have an inkling that the game was in doubt? Just that, Brian. How's about an official reason, please? The club has had seven ho...

Re: Club Statement: Woking vs. Dagenham & Redbridge

Surely one can do a bit better than that? Reason, please?
I understand these are trying times, so is one of ours self-isolating or theirs, maybe?
Changing plans at the last minute, literally, before setting off from a distance could see someone offer an explanation?

Re: Woking v Dagenham & Redbridge – update

OK, the matches are on - but I don't get it. How comes Notts County will be allowed to attract up to 6,000 for their game against Eastleigh, but the EFL deem it unsafe that at least six League Two clubs with average attendances much lower than Notts, can't play? If you support an NL club the virus w...

Re: Woking v Dagenham & Redbridge – update

Matches ON according to Twitter. Be interesting to watch attendances and see if the PL and EFL fans swell the numbers. I wouldn't hold your breath. You're asking Surrey citizens normally on their way to London and the PL to take in a fifth tier match. A few might out of curiosity, but as you say. w...

Re: Woking v Dagenham & Redbridge – update

Something else for the NL to consider. 'The Football Association of Wales [FAW] has suspended domestic football at all levels in Wales until at least 4 April due to coronavirus'. That surely means Wrexham can't play home games? So if other NL matches carry on as normal, do Wrexham have to play beyon...
