Re: Dowse's Friday Catch-Up | 10/07/2020

It does strike me when doing these lists that you can't take Dowse absolutely verbatim. This week is a good example - he both says that he's sure he'll have good news about Rossy, and that he's hopeful we'll have good news. You've got to give him a little bit of colloquial license. That said, did an...

Re: Dowse's Friday Catch-Up | 10/07/2020

Spoken to all players from last season, past and present, face to face. Donnellan's the only exception - holiday til Monday. Really pleased to get Sam Evans done. Didn't look at the holidays, the contract, all that - local kid who wants to do well for the club. Remembers Sole and wants to be like h...

Re: Matt Jarvis signs a new deal

Isn't that roughly equivalent to our annual player salary budget? I could be way off. I'm not the best with figures by a long stretch, but I'm under the general impression we run a total loss of about 200-300k a year that used to be covered for us by the powers that be? Hopefully people better info...

Re: Matt Jarvis signs a new deal

Arter pretty openly wants to go and thinks Bournemouth want to let him go. '“My goal at the start of the season was to get promoted with Fulham, and stay there,” he says. “For Bournemouth and for myself, the best outcome would be that I do sign for Fulham."' Source If he did go, it would be for a re...

I like Max. Used all over the park last season. Fantastic penalty taker. Only started 13 league games last season which surprises me. Involved with the academy and clearly highly thought of. Welcome back.

Thing is Dowse doesn't seem to like 5 at the back
Eh? We started the season with five at the back and tore the league up for a month, even when we didn't actually play three centre backs. I absolutely remember a few games with 5'7 Josh Casey at LCB, with Tyreke as a wing back in front of him.

Re: Dave Tarpey signs a new deal

About as good of a part time player as you can get in the National League - happy with that. And another example of a top quality part time player Absolutely agree with this. We wouldn't have Jarvis, Tarpey or Casey if we were full time. Top work from the management team, really positive that some ...

Not sure there's anyone in the National League with anything like the career that Matt Jarvis has. This is amazing news.

Re: Dowse's Friday Catch-Up | 03/07/2020

Haven't had the pleasure of one of these in bloody ages! Most importantly, Dowse is in good health. Doctor was an Aldershot fan. “If I’d had known that, I’d have gone to a different hospital!” Previously furloughed by the club – now legally allowed to work four hours a day. Planning decision is frus...

Re: Ex-Cards - May 29th onwards

Sad to see him go, but feels like one quite a few have predicted. Best of luck to him. It's a very relative point, as I think Dowse's recruitment has been very good by and large, but I feel like we've struggled to get quality out wide more than in any other position. Loza was never permanently our p...

Re: Ex-Cards - May 29th onwards

Gillingham's retained list indicates that Regan Charles-Cook's contract expires on June 30th. The club will make a final decision "following a board meeting on June 19 or the date that the commencement of the 20/21 season is formally announced by the EFL." Peterborough have exercised an option to ex...

Re: Woking FC Board update – The Woking Community Stadium

Very long read but an interesting one. The Thames Water consultation is interesting as that was a common reason to vote against it (according to the opposition). It seems they've found some kind of agreement there. Likewise with National Rail. Typical misrepresentation from SWAG on this. They ran a...

Re: Ex-Cards - May 29th onwards

Harry Arter did an interview for The Athletic a couple of week back, and it's a fantastic read - goes into powerful depth about the impact of losing a child on his mental health. On slightly more trivial matters, he did mention a potential transfer: For Arter, a lot may rest on the outcome of this s...

Ex-Cards - May 29th onwards

Seems like we're starting to see squads creaking into life now that every non-league competition is more or less sorted, and I'm proper bored, so thought I'd kick this off again in the vague hope that we start to see transfers knocking around and I can get all excited. Ex-Woking player Simon Lane ha...
